I guess they will have to pick which high school they will never be able to recruit from again.
Drop Bruce. I know, I know, he is a local kid and grew up dreaming about being a Vol. Sapp is more important to th long term success of this team than Bruce. Drop Bruce take Sapp and keep Oliver. Bruce can wear a blue or grey shirt if he can pass NCAA muster. Get the best players in if you want to win.
Ok, heres a thought I had.
Were at 28.
We add 1 and drop 1 and stay at 28.
We have 1 spot saved for an OT. That puts us at 29.
Bruce, Oliver, Perry, Stewart and Lovingood all blue shirt. That puts us at 24.
Add 1 for the Jashon Robertson blueshirt. Puts us at 25
Sapp is more important to the long term success of this team than Bruce? Let me guess because he is a 4* and Bruce is a 3*?? Gimme a break.
I am all about kids that bleed orange and I fully understand what bringing in local kids can do for morale and such but honestly East Tn has a rough track record in producing talent and an even worse record with the ones who come to UT actually being players we need. I mean the Devrin Youngs' and Cody Blancs' add up real fast and do not produce at the level UT needs to be a quality team. I'm telling you in the last 15 years it is hard to think of any real productive East Tn kids that UT just had to have on the field. The Colquitt brothers who are punters/legacies along with current Vol legacy Kelly Jr. Cory Anderson was decent but he was a fullback. No one else really jumps out. Nothing against Bruce at all as he might be the exception to the rule but the track record is bad. Do you have to go all the way back to James Stewart to find a truly proven star that is a non legacy and non specialist type player that was from East Tenn...that is a long long time ago to find one kid...just saying.
To your point, the only real star, Randall Cobb, went to UK after being slow played by UT. The only other really good player I can remember was Aaron Douglas.

yeah Witten falls into the 15 year window barely...time is flying by...lol...though his childhood was crazy and thank goodness his grandfather coached football in east tenn...but he is definitely a star...so one proven star player since stewart...we are really on a roll now!!!
