'15 JUCO CB Justin Martin (UT Signee 2/4/15)

If he plays for his Juco team this season he will have four to play 3

Are you saying he isn't going to play Juco this year? That he's only going to school there?

Yes and no. He will have four years of eligibility left, should a redshirt be necessary at some point. Counting the upcoming season, he will have played only one year at the JUCO level. He was scheduled to graduate from high school at the end of this semester, but he would have been ineligible to play on the division 1-A level due to his academic performance, so he would have had to attend JUCO anyway. He simply took his GED, got a jump start on freshman-level college work and is planning to graduate in time to be eligible to attend UT in fall 2015. Hence, he will have exhausted only one season of college eligibility. Thanks for illustrating the need for a point of clarification.

Four-star freshman cornerbackJustin Martin*of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami, Okla., said he will visit four more schools this week after traveling to Ohio State on Saturday.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Martin —*a former standout at Overton High School in Nashville, Tenn. —*said he's planning to make stops at Tennessee, Ole Miss, Florida State and Alabama this week before returning to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M for the summer. He said he's scheduled to visit Tennessee on Tuesday.

Martin holds early offers from Tennessee, Ole Miss, South Florida and Memphis. He's ranked the nation's No. 14 overall junior-college prospect and No. 4 juco cornerback in the 247Sports Composite for the 2015 class.

Martin was suppose to visit along with Kyle Oliver today.

However...

"Justin Martin just told me he won't be able to visit Tennessee today after all because of the NCAA rule that prohibits junior college players from visiting schools until they complete two semesters of school."

"Since Martin left Overton in December and went directly to NEO he technically has only been there one semester. He will be able to take official visits after December 8."

He visited tOSU... How did that happen?

"It is any visit. I'm sure Ohio State will have to report a small violation because honestly, I'm sure people just forgot he wasn't a regular juco guy. He was apparently on his way to Tennessee when they called and told him he couldn't visit."

"He now will have to wait until Dec. 8 to take official visits. That basically gives him a little over a week to take officials before having to sign and make a decision if he graduates early. Certainly, it's not the ideal situation."

I would think if he wanted to take an unofficial visit he could. Maybe he is just not able to fund the trip himself right now. It's alright Justin. Just go ahead and commit now and visit as a UT commitment Dec 12th. We'll allow it. :loco:

"The kid told us he was good to go. Don't punish us, punish the kid. Let me tell you something, tOSU learned from this. Never happen again."

Ryan Callahan on who could make early commitment to Tennessee...

Martin, a former standout at Overton High School in Nashville, Tenn., who enrolled at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in January, was forced to cancel his scheduled visit to Tennessee on Tuesday because junior-college prospects aren’t allowed to take unofficial visits before completing their second semester at junior college. But the Vols remain the early favorite to land Martin after helping him get to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and putting together a plan that could allow him to transfer to a four-year school by next summer. Martin is hoping to make his decision sometime during the upcoming season, and seven of the eight early predictions on 247Sports’ Crystal Ball point to Tennessee as the team to beat.

Looks like no visits at all till after Dec 8th. To me that makes no sense at all. OV's? Maybe, I get that. If a kid wants to take an UOV to a school on his own dime I am not sure how a Juco could stop it. If a HS kid can do it at any time, why is a Juco kid any different?

I agree. If the kid is from Nashville, I do not see why he couldn't come visit family and make a 3 hr drive to knoxville; at some point this summer.
