Taylor Hamm 247
Northeastern Oklahoma cornerback Justin Martin was offered by Texas A&M yesterday and the No. 1 rated JUCO CB tells GigEm247 that he's likely to officially visit College Station next weekend. Much of that has to do with the recent hire of John Chavis.
"I've been talking with Coach (John) Chavis since he was at LSU and he was a big part of my recruitment when I was considering LSU," Martin said. "I kind of figured they were going to offer. I talked with Coach (Terry) Joseph and he basically sent me a picture of their depth chart on Twitter and a long video of one of their practices and their history with Coach Sumlin."
He added, "I look forward to going home and talking it over with my family and see what they have to say. I'll probably visit there on the 16th but nothing has been set yet."
Martin, who's committed to Tennessee, talks about what intrigues him about the offer and his status with the Vols.
"I know their offense is going to put up points but defensive wise I haven't watched Texas A&M that much," he said. "I know they send a lot of people to the league on offense but Coach Chavis coming in is big. He's one of the best defensive coordinators in history so I know he's going to get their defense right."
He added, "I'm pretty strong on Tennessee but I'll still listen to a few coaches like Coach Chavis and Coach (Will) Muschamp at Auburn. I might go visit Auburn later in the month too."
