'15 JUCO CB Justin Martin (UT Signee 2/4/15)

If he comes here in good shape he starts in the first game of the season. Those tall, fast corners can shut down a tall fast receiver.

Yall dont sleep on EMose....He's got another year in the strength and conditioning program. I think he has proved he can play at a high level.

Mosely and Martin are the same class and Mosely will have been here 3 full semesters.

Competition should be tough in fall camp at numerous spots.

+1...if he's as good as I think teams better focus on running the ball.

Wait...if our DL is as good as I think teams better focus on passing the ball.

Wait...wat?

What game? He proved he can play I want him to give me at least one pick. Teams avoided Sutton like the plague late in the year.

You're on crack if you can't see the skill Moseley has. So what he didnt have an INT. Did you see how many PBUs he had? Did you see his open field tackling ability?

Did you see his speed? His length?
Moseley is as talented as anyone in the east div. So is Martin. And Sutton.

Don't call out BB, he knows everything there is to know about DBs...lol

I think it will be a great battle at the corner opposite of Sutton. But in reality the entire secondary must improve. We gave up career days in receiving 4 consecutive games last year.

Our secondary will be one of the best in the country just because of how good our d line will be.

I agree. I think our secondary will be much improved next year for a couple reason. First, like you said our d-line will be very good next year I believe. And second, because we will be so much faster next year opposite Sutton and especially at nickel with Coleman no longer getting burned every game (love the guy because he's a VFL and left it all on the field every game but he just didn't have the deep speed to keep up with his man).

I watched him play off of guys entirely too much. Who questioned his physical ability? He hasn't proven he's a flat out baller at this level yet. He tackles pretty good. He had 6 PBU. Also gave up some easy throws from not trusting his talent at all. Talent/athleticism is one thing. Being a good player/CB is another. His potential is good at the position but it's not like he played lights out. Ole Miss went after him and he didn't respond well. I watched he get caught up with WRs downfield a lot this year too. He'll need to really clean that up or the flags will be thrown. We'll see how he progresses though. He's got top flight level talent coming in to take his job.

Martin is raw at CB. He dominates because he is an incredible athlete. He has some work to do to be day 1 starter. He is talented enough to I do that but I wouldn't just hand it over to him like some do in here. Moseley and Gaulden are really good and really confident as well. We got some damn swag in the secondary that's for sure

Gaulden is the one to watch in my mind. I think Moseley played well at times this past season, particularly for a true freshman, and I think he is likely to start this year. All that being said, there was a ton of buzz about Gaulden and his freakish athleticism. I think injuries really hampered his freshman season. If he is healthy this year, the battle between the experienced and fast Moseley, the raw but athletic freak Martin, and a redshirt and very athletic Gaulden will be fun to watch for the second corner spot. Personally, I think either Moseley or Gaulden, probably Moseley, will play nickel and Martin will play CB opposite Sutton in nickel packages with Gaulden pushing Martin for snaps. My guess is in base defense sets, which are seemingly rare for UT right now, that Moseley and Martin will battle it out for snaps opposite Sutton. I wonder if Gaulden may end up at FS since he seems too talented to keep off of the field?

As an aside, how awesome is it that we are discussing Sutton, Martin, Moseley, and Gaulden battling it out since each one is a tremendous and fast athlete? It has been a while for UT to be able to discuss an athletic secondary.

I think we will be improved at DT once K-Mac or Shy get settled in beside O'Brien. But you have to remember, we had 2 of the top DEs in the SEC in terms of sacks and TFLs. It was strange to see the secondary breakdowns last year towards the end of the season after such a good start to the year.

guys settle down its called a 4 2 5 . We run it a lot . Moseley Martin and Sutton all on the field at same time .

Unless Martin plays nickel (or we see a lot of injuries), I doubt this happens. All three of those guys are outside CBs. I think most people consider Gaulden to be a shoe in for the Nickel spot.
