'15 JUCO RB Alvin Kamara (UT commit 6/21/14)

Kamara looks like a straight line speed guy to me. He makes the same cut every time once he gets to the sidelines. I don't think that will work all of the time in the sec. He just doesn't seem to have elite elusiveness to me. And doesn't break a lot of tackles. Obviously blazing fast, and runs downhill, but I don't see him leaving after next season. I think he still has a lot of developement to go through.

I can't remember... What part of Alabama did you say you were from....

.... Just kidding....

210 rushes. 1520 yards. Yes Please!

For comparison, Hurd+Marlin had 251 carries for 1056 yards.

If Kamara is anywhere close to Johnson's production, our running game will be unstoppable!

Before we think about our running backs getting 1500 yards, we better hope that there is major improvement in the offensive line.

There will be a HUGE pickup in the OL. Getting guys back into position, Blair being in shape and a year of learning, Mosley being freakin huge and awesome... We'll have depth, we'll have a real tackle. The young. Guys that played this year will know what it's like and grow.

Another year in the weight room for everybody. I know we've all given mohoney crap, but the unit will be ok. Patience.

I think Hurd and Kamara will look like Gurley and Chubb next year.

Per Hubbs

Butch Jones started out the week spending time with Alvin Kamara's mother as Kamara will be on campus next weekend for his official visit and then is set to sign with Tennessee on junior college signing day, Dec. 17.

Is it realistic to compare a RB's results against juco defenses vs a RB's results against SEC defenses?

If anything, I'd of expected AK's results to be better by a much wider margin than this. Our OL sucked!

A MUCH wider margin??? He averaged ~7.25 ypc vs Hurd/Lane's ~4.20 ypc. That's a pretty wide margin.

Hey, I'm as happy about AK as the next Vol fan and if he can average anything close to 7 YPC next season then we will all be very happy!

AK's an elite recruit playing juco in his 2nd year out of HS after a year in Alabubba's S&G program. I would have thought there to be a huge talent gap between him and his competition such that he'd get 10+ ypc? Haven't ever paid much attention to juco stats before so maybe I'm all wet with my expectations?

I get it, but 10+ ypc is reserved for high schools and Playstation. Rarely ever, will you find a player average that anywhere else with 200+ carries. Remember, he is playing behind a JUCO OLine too. Talent differential is very relative in situations like AK's. It's easy to say he's playing against JUCO kids, he should be blowing it up. But he is reliant on a JUCO line as well to block, so that evens the playing field a bit. When he gets past the initial line of scrimmage, it's usually bad news for the opposing team. That is where he stands out as being on another level than the competition.

The RB's will only be as good as our OL unless we have Gurley like talent

Gurley is really, really talented but that offensive line does a good bit of work for their rbs. I saw multiple games where he or Chubb or whoever got at least 5 yards before they were touched.

Specifically a 4th and 2 or so from around the 10 against Auburn, Chubb wasn't touched til the 1 yard line. I remember just being in awe of the blocking on that play.

I don't know how he doesn't see it... He was the only guy doing anything with this OL

Would be over 1000 yards if he played vs UTC and Vandy

The Mizzou game he was starting to take over and the coaches stopped running him. Started to gash Oklahoma late and we stopped him again.

I guess they were hoping to open up the passing game but the OL had other ideas. in hindsight... Hahahaha what a bad idea

They do that every game. Just go away from what's working. Hurd was turning the corner versus Bama easy. We stopped running him in that game too.....

Talk to a Juco coach last night at dome. Ask him if he had one pick, Alvin Kamara or Jovon Robinson. "Alvin is just different, special"
