'15 JUCO RB Alvin Kamara (UT commit 6/21/14)

Hoping to see a quintuple-option with Kamara onboard.

Dobbs in the shotgun, Kamara and Hurd to his right and left and Pearson in motion.

Dobbs can throw it, keep it, flip it to Pearson, or hand it off to either RB.

Can't stop that.

We actually ran that against Kentucky a lot. Albeit without the threat of a second tailback like Kamara.

I envision a lot of two back sets with fake handoffs to Hurd sho plows into the line to pick up a blitzer and Kamara runs down the seamor on a wheel route for a huge gain.

I want to thank MZTERRY for putting in work to help recruit Alvin to UT. She is an awesome VFL!

I will be nice to see Alvin and Jason scoring TDs for UT!!!!

Gillespie expects Kamara to help 'immediately'

Four-star running back Alvin Kamara of Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College became the first member of Tennessee's 2015 signing class Wednesday morning, and running backs coach Robert Gillespie said he's "excited" for Kamara to add depth and competition to the Vols' backfield.

"Alvin is an extremely competitive kid," Gillespie said of Kamara, who transferred from Alabama to Hutchinson earlier this year.

"He has an explosive element to his game that will allow him to help us immediately. I'm excited to coach him this spring and believe that his addition will create a healthy competition in the running backs room."

The 5-foot-10.5, 210-pound Kamara, who plans to enroll at Tennessee in January with three years to play his final three seasons, is ranked the nation's No. 3 junior-college prospect and No. 2 juco running back in the 247Sports Composite for the 2015 class

I know it's not a normal RB #, but I wish Alvin would wear #47.

Is it within the realm of possibility the he might wear #47?

Sorry, I just really hate all the MzTerry suck ups on this board...I guess it just comes with the territory.

Yeah, I'm a suck up dude for telling someone thank you. Heaven forbid someone ever tell you thank you because they're probably sucking up to you. Everyone knows they have so much to gain from sucking up to you.

Just as I have suspected, Kamara is a much better RB than Robinson.

Not saying Kamara isn't better but Robinson was playing injured this season so his carries and production dropped significantly. I noticed back in October Jovon said he was up to 240 lbs so maybe the extra weight is slowing him down.

Good lord 240 that's huge

SIAP-

“He has the ability to make you miss at the second level, but also has the toughness to run between the tackles,” “We talk about being a complete running back, and we feel he’s a complete running back. And then being able to get him at midyear is going to be a great boost to our entire offense. And we’re still way down in numbers at the running-back position, so the continual recruiting and elevation of that position is critical. But to be able to bring him in at midyear is very important for us in moving forward.

“He can catch the football. He can do a lot with the ball in his hands. And he’s a tough, competitive young man.”

Jones said he believes the 5-foot-10.5, 210-pound Kamara and Tennessee freshman running back Jalen Hurd will “complement each other well.” “And, as we found out, in this conference you need more than two running backs,” Jones said. “So, again, it’s going to be a great opportunity for other individuals, as well. But you have to have two complementary backs, and they complement each other just in terms of different skill sets, in terms of speed — make you miss.

“They’re both very good in pass protection. They’ll be involved even more in the throwing game, so very, very excited. But we need to continue to recruit that position and develop that position, as well, but very excited about that. That was a great, great recruiting get for us.”

Jones later bristled when he was asked whether the Vols had looked into Kamara’s past at Alabama, where he was suspended for last year’s Sugar Bowl before transferring to Hutchinson earlier this year. “Absolutely. We do our research. Have you done your research?” Jones asked the reporter.“We do our research with everything we do.”

Kamara's role is going to be HUGE. He and Hurd will be a great one two punch, but we are severely lacking behind them. It's crucial they stay healthy.
