'15 JUCO WR Camion Patrick

247 has a good article up on Patrick from his coach's (Cummings - Knox West) perspective. He did sign with East Miss. C.C. yesterday.

East Miss. C.C. won the NC last year, and they throw the ball a lot, so Camion will have a good chance to play and produce. UT needs to stay on him his entire time down there if we want a chance.

Wonder why Prep school wasnt an option.

seems like if he went that route he could get his HS core work done and still have 4 years to play.

anyone close to the situation know if that was a viable option for Cam?

The 247 article made it sound like he had no one guiding him through this process other than his coach, and his coach didn't really know what he was doing at first. Per the 247 article:

“I’ve just kind of been guiding him through this thing,” Cummings said. “I mean, I’ve been honest with him for a while that it wasn’t looking good. We really weren’t sure what direction we needed to go. When we did some research and found out in the junior-college ranks you could go through this program, this by far seemed the best option for him.”

Maybe Camion will make friends and bring a stud D-linemen or three back with him. It would be nice to get back in the Mississippi JC's.

He should redshirt his first year at juco to get his academic foundation, and have 3-for-3 to play when he comes out. It sucks and he will be out of FBall for 2 years in a row, but when you screw up you do what you gotta do...

In typical ESPN fashion the storyline reads "Vols lose ESPN 300 receiver Camion Patrick". Not that academic issues led him to CC, but that Tennessee loses recruit.

Lazy journalism. I'm not a member of the ESPN hates us crowd. Although I do think they have a northeastern bias, naturally.

They only report professional sports stories from bandwagon teams.. Cowboys, Lakers, Heat, Patriots, Giants etc... Also they get majors hards on for the Jets for a reason that no one knows

I actually think ESPN likes Tennessee, when they have something to say about UT they do. When Tennessee does well they are all over it (Florida gameday, Butch hire). Many fans like myself wear orange tinted glasses, and don't realize they re reporting news good or bad.

I bet it was written by Hooker...dude loves to put a negative spin on things for UT...no that that has been hard to do lately

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't East Mississippi C. C. a pipeline to Ole Miss our Miss State? Looks even worse for us if true. They'll push him to one of those schoolsif he makes the grades.

Cam's support system is/was seriously lacking. Family, Mentors, Coaches and academic Advisors didnt help this kid one bit.

Now I know most of it is on him, but for his coach to say he had no idea about the path, Wow. a HS coach who couldnt reach out and ask for advice or help.

Guess I cant be too shocked about anything to do with anything involving the American Public School system

Camion will be lucky to get into any SEC school. I'm telling you all, his academic situation is TERRIBLE. I know a lot of his family, and much like most athletes from Clinton I don't think he'll ever win in the classroom. Sucks, but it is what it is.

ESPN only wants to report and discuss the trendy topics and markets, especially with its radio shows. It is all about markets and ratings. Evidently when Doug Gottlieb left to go to CBS he said that for his ESPN radio show he was always told that he can never talk about too much Tebow. It is a polarizing topic and one that creates ratings. All they are looking for is the trendy topic. It is getting to where you really just want to watch ESPN for highlights and nothing more. It has become very influential.

Wouldn't play much of a role with Patrick if he can get his grades up to par. Patrick grew up a Vol fan.
