'15 JUCO WR Camion Patrick

A familiar face also stopped at Tennessee on Sunday to take in the Vols’ practice for the Jan. 2 TaxSlayer Bowl in Jacksonville, Fla. Former UT commitment Camion Patrick, a wide receiver from the Knoxville area who’s now at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba, Miss., was back on campus for an unofficial visit with his hometown team. There doesn’t appear to be any serious involvement between Tennessee and Patrick at this point, but he’s at least a name to watch over the next several weeks. He’s coming off an impressive season at East Mississippi, and while there’s still no guarantee that he’ll be able to graduate in time to be a Class of 2015 prospect, it’s possible that his recruitment could heat up between now and signing day.

It appears he is trying to graduate prior by May to get in the class. Probably because of the test score in HS. Just don't lose him to another school if at all possible if he has his act together.

I wonder if the coaches could sell him on the blue shirt option, just in case he does not make the grades by May in order to be a part of the 2015 class.

Patrick was my favorite recruit in the 2013 class. His highlight film was UNREAL! Really hope Butch gives him a chance cause he's gonna be a good one.

Any chance we jump on Camion if things don't work out with Newsome? The VQ guys seem to think there isn't a lot there between the staff and C.Patrick at this point.

He could play anywhere if his grades are in order. I can't imagine Butch lets him get away for anything other than grades.

Kid's a huge UT fan.

What is a grey shirt and a blue shirt?

Grey shirt is when a recruit enrolls the December after they graduate and count towards the next class. Usually spend the fall semester at prep school or playing video games. Used somewhat frequently in college football.

Blue shirt is a mythical creature where a recruit could enroll in the fall and count towards the next class. However, there are super stringent rules for using a blue shirt and I have yet to see one happen. I'll believe it when I see it.

Here you go:

What is grey shirting?

A grey shirt is an incoming college freshman who postpones his enrollment in classes until the second term of his freshman year. This means they don’t take classes until the winter term.

Grayshirting isn't the only colorful trend in football recruiting - ESPN

A blueshirt is a player who arrived on campus as a "preferred" or "recruited" walk-on and goes on to earn a football scholarship. The NCAA doesn't allow for schools to produce written promises of scholarships to walk-ons, but that doesn't stop a school from telling a prospect who walks on that an offer is coming after a certain point.

"There are a couple of different ways you can award a blueshirt scholarship," one Big 12 coach said. "We'll have some cases of a player arriving for the start of fall practices, and we'll then immediately put them on scholarship after the end of fall camp, then count the scholarship forward - against the 2015 class, for example - and announce them on the following signing day.

"The other way is if there's a player, and we know we'll have a scholarship coming open at a certain position. We tell them if you come as a freshman, pay your own way, a scholarship will come open at this point in time, and it's yours."

I think no official visit, no in home recruitment, etc.

I work with someone related to Camion and he is saying that Camions dad is saying that UT isnt really pursuing him and that Indiana seems to lead at this point.
Take it for what its worth...

Could he still play that fall semester with the grey shirt?

If he grayshirted (which you can only do for the 2nd semester) then potentially yes. But that will not happen because he will be enrolled at a JUCO for the 2nd semester. At least that's my understanding of how it works

Seems about right. No one is touching this guy right now - I assume because of grades? Hes obviously talented both as a receiver and a return man.

Does anyone know if he had a qualifying score in high school? I know he had grade issues, but if he didnt have a high enough ACT score he has to play 2 years in JUCO. Thats the reason Martin can leave in May.

His scores in high school all around are less
than desirable. Id be surprised if he qualifies to graduate w what he needs to enroll here in May. He left school for a while and just recently got back involved w it. IMO he has some ground to go, but is a Vol fan and would commit in a heartbeat. I graduated with some of his family members.

Pardon my ignorance on this issue, but how do people know grade issues? Isn't that stuff confidential? Not calling anybody out. Just curious

I took a math class with him at LC. He literally had below a 30. And that's in an "easy" math class with (by far) the easiest teacher in the school. He just didn't care.

He is a 100% take tho if he wants to come here and has his grades in order. I've said it before and will say it again, I've literally never met someone as athletic as him.
