Agreed. Adding Kelly could be the difference. I'm sure aTM is hammering the point that Bussey is down the depth chart at UT and will play immediately there. Not necessarily true, of course. Bussey has different skills than some of our other RBs and we will be rotating them in and out... but aTm will spin it to their advantage.
He brought his Dad this weekend, but Dad not with him at A&M... all this Richmond talk-- folks need to be reminded that this is just an important weekend for us with Bussey as A&M are right behind us.... I think if Butch spends some time with Dad, we should be good, but we cannot take this commit for granite and we need him badly, not just for depth, but this kid is gonna surprise folks with his toughness and will get touches this coming season.
Dad may like the idea of the kid being the 2nd RB for A&M vs the 3rd or 4th for UT in the class. In the end, I think the kid sticks with our VOLS.
I think Bussey and Kamara are very similar. Both catch the ball really well, can make plays in space, can run between the tackles, yet still the speed to get outside.
A&M's 2nd RB? They are going to have 2 SR RBs next year: Tra Carson and Brandon Williams. They also have James White, who will be a SO. and was 4-star out of HS. They have 4-star Jay Bradford committed this year, and he was an Army All-American. And they are favored to pick up 4-star Devwah Whaley for next year. I'm not saying Bussey isn't talented and couldn't compete with those guys, but A&M ain't exactly hurting for backs.
Great visit, Bussey said. I got to pretty much chill with Alvin and Jalen. So, we just kind of bonded as a group.
Of course theyre going to explain the situation. Coach has made it a thing and just being able to bond with those guys and who Ill be with the next couple of years and make sure we get along. That was pretty cool.
I got to see who I will be playing with the next couple of years, so that was good.
That scenario has been Butch's only option. We were lucky to have two RBs healthy at a time and Dobbs ran more than he should've. Four RBs would be a luxury we haven't had in years and would give us more options, which we sorely need. But, yes, Hurd and Kamara look to be the top two.
Yep. They way UGA, Bama, Auburn, LSU, Arkansas, FSU, Texas A&M, etc. have rotated their backs recently proves that you need at least 3, usually 4 talented backs if you want to remain elite in the backfield. Injuries happen and guys want to stay fresh for the NFL these days.
