'15 MD OT Pat Allen

Per Callahan

The Vols also have continued to battle Georgia for four-star offensive tackle Patrick Allen of Reisterstown, Md., and the two-team race between UT and the Bulldogs still is believed to be virtually neck-and-neck heading into the final days of his recruitment. While recent changes to Georgia’s staff — primarily the departure of former offensive line coach Will Friend — caused Allen to decommit from the Bulldogs earlier this month, Bajakian’s exit isn’t expected to impact Allen’s final decision. He’s still planning to announce his choice on signing day, and Jones is expected to travel to Maryland later this week for his in-home visit with Allen. It’s worth noting that Georgia coach Mark Richt visited with Allen on Jan. 15, the first day after the dead period.

Ehhhh, I ate crow on Kelly, but I just pass along what I'm told. I'll usually specify if it's something I'm just speculating on, or a hunch, or whatever.

Being said, I personally think Allen lost his spot at UGA, but whether he did or didn't... Vol on NSD. He understands how bad we need him.

Nb4 someone calls me out on saying Allen was still a Dawg around the time Bobo left. Looking at you sand dune and newt. It's recruiting, things change, .. and this one is jmo :)

Welcome to the party. :)

I do think UGA would still take him but I think he is leaning our way at this point and Butch closes stronger than anyone.

On uga site Richt was reported telling one of there oline commits They have 4 committed but rivals shows 3. So they believe Allen has verbally to them...

It won't be 50/50 after Butch's in-home, IMO. #closer

I don't think it's 50/50 now.

He was set to announce for the Vols. UGA got him to delay to see who they got as OC and then Oline coach. I think they did make up some ground with Sale and Schottenheimer but I think Mahoney has a longer relationship with Allen. Allen was on the fence before Bobo and Friend left; he was the one who initiated contact with the staff.

I do agree Butch will close this one down though after the in home.

Bring it home, Butch.

Like others have said, if Allen was going to recommit to Georgia, he would have already done it.

If he still goes Georgia on NSD, then... Well, good luck to him I guess, and thanks for wasting our time.

Otherwise, Mr. Allen, come on down to KnoxVegas where immediate playing time and cougha2016NationalTitlecough are all but guaranteed! Join the Big Orange dynasty or get left in the dust!

Oh, yeah, thanks for the party welcome. I found the booze... Sunshine Pumper Ale? Not bad, I can dig it from time to time.

Nothing wrong with a little SPA every now and then. :good!:

If I'm Butch, this is where my attention would be. I would rather go after a kid like Allen than one like Richmond pulling his one day only bs. I really think Richmond is jerking the Vols and our fan base around.

I'm certainly way more confident that Allen signs with Tennessee than I am Richmond. Aside from the fact that Richmond still says he is committed to Ole Miss, the conflicting word play coming from his camp is hard to take serious. On the other hand, Allen has voiced his reasons for decommitting and his level of uncertainty over the past few weeks. No harm in that. He appears to be a lot more serious in his consideration of Tennessee, even if he is still undecided on Georgia. This is just my interpretation of the situation though. Certainly, the exact opposite could happen, that is, he sign to UGA and we get Richmond. That just seems far less likely to me. Again, this is not an easy prediction either way. Perhaps we get both!

To be honest I think we have more of a chance w Richmond than Allen at this point. I mean.. I might be horribly wrong. But while Allen seems to be drifting from us, Richmond is drifting towards us. We'll probably whiff on both.

That's the spirit!

I've felt like Richmond has been trolling us almost all along. If he cared any for Tennessee, he wouldn't have been negative recruiting against UT while he was visiting.

Allen decommitted because his coaches left and he wanted to see who the replacements were. The replacements have been in place for some time now. If they were satisfactory and UGA was still his love, he would have recommitted long ago.

Why negative recruit against us and then show interest again?
Has he even de committed from ole miss?
And what's up with giving us half a visit and Bama half a visit?
Maybe this is Freeze just telling him to waste more of our time. :whistling:

I'm fine with taking a chance on DR. If Allen was already committed to UT that might be different, but right now we don't have a bird in hand. If we can get a visit from DR it is worth the effort. If he acts up on the visit then put him on a plane and claim he got caught shooting heroin.

I just think he is very torn. There are multiple factors in play and this is a life-changing decision. I have no idea which way he will go, but I still think we have a better than average shot to get him here.

Just 3 months ago, Richmond said Butch can't develop linemen. This was confirmed. Maybe the bowl performance changed his mind, but I find it hard to believe that he just completely changed his mind. Add into the fact that his mom and everyone around him wants him at Ole Miss. If he flips, it'll be Bama IMO

Killed five hookers IMO.
