'15 MI RB Michael Weber

Kinda hoped the kid would stay in state and play at MI. Better to commit to the school than a position coach. Had Urbs left, he would have a justifiable beef IMO. RB coach, not so much.

Sorry OSU'S running back coach is leaving and Weber is upset that Urban knew it before signing day and didn't tell him. Weber said he feels bad that he let Michigan down especially now.

Urban lied? Well, he's never been known to do that before, oh wait, he was apparently close to having a myocardial infarction a few years ago. Seamed to get better really quickly. Must have good doctors in Ohio

Gotta agree. It's not like Michigan hired a slouch coach and he had no choice but to go to OSU.

Boo freaking hoo kid. That's why you commit to a school not a coach, especially a position coach

Yup, I don't feel too bad for him. He should have done his homework on the schools before making such a final decision.

Wilcher says if Ohio State releases Weber from his signed National Letter of Intent, he would be eligible to play elsewhere immediately.

Would absolutely love to land this kid somehow.

Not sure how the rules work in this situation, but doesnt OSU have the option to only release him to schools outside of the conference.

Also, if that were to occur, could we blueshirt him? Considering that hes an initial counter for OSU and would be treated as a transfer?

If this were true, strictly speaking, we wouldn't be able to explain the difference between the quality of CBJ's recruits and CDD's.

Kids ought to commit to a program, not a school or a position coach

Have no idea what the rules are with this. We do have his HS teammate signed...

It's probably a moot point anyways. I don't see Urban releasing him.

John Kelly wasn't Weber's HS teammate. That was Joshua Alabi. Kelly is from Michigan, just not same school.

Could you imagine that backfield if they were though? I'd run Wildcat plays all day lol

For me I suppose it depends what was asked. The HS coach says they were flat out lied to. IF they asked if Drayton was staying at RB coach at OSU for the foreseeable future and were indeed lied to, imo gotta release him. Now if they didn't ask, IMO OSU didn't need to disclose it. Position coaches come and go at a high rate. If a recruit signs and his position coach leaves 8-10 months later does he get a release as well? Just can't work that way.

If a head coach takes a new job after a signing class is all locked in and before they get to campus, IMO that is when those kids all qualify for a release if they choose to go. Jmo

Really? I thought there was some kind of connection between the two… Close friends maybe?

These are always tough situations, and I agree that the school itself should be a part of the deal. However, I always go back to the fact that all of us develop relationships and pick our advisors that way. We pick doctors, lawyers, financial reps, etc. based on our relationships, so why should 18 year old kids be any different? You don't just commit to a school. A school's best asset is its people. JMO.
