Op says he's 5'10" 190... Think he's close to 205-210 now

Saw he was planning to go to Michigan's junior day this weekend but didn't make it.

Hope he makes it to UT, would be a great pickup and I know he liked UT quite a bit from his earlier visit last summer.

Just following up on the Jayru (Weber's QB) from earlier.

Apparently, MSU pulled their scholarship offer and he has been charged for the attack on the security guard. He's gon' have some 'splainin' to do.

Glad to hear MSU values their reputation more than the abilities of one ver misguided individual. Props to Coach Dantonio.

It's a different world in recruiting with Butch...moreso than anytime I can remember as a Vol fan...I know that it's a short sample size, but in these 1 1/2 recruiting classes we see interest and nets cast to all areas of the country...in past years we'd recruit a Derrick Henry or Green and bite our nails until signing day...last year we get commits from Erick Lauderdale,Booth and Kareem Jackson...we end up "settling" on Josh Malone and Lavon Pearson...we fretted about not offering Caleb Kinlaw to join Hurd and Paulk...ok...we'll just take our chances on Darrell Scott...Butch and Co are two to three steps ahead of us...as it should be...I was getting weary of drinking to bolster my optimism on signing day.

Would love to land him as the RB in this class. They are clearly on the outside now with Swinney and all the love he's giving to Auburn and a few other schools and I still think Griffin is a longshot as well.

Have a hard time seeing this kid leave the state of Michigan. Had not heard we were not still in great shape with Swinney. If that is the case, Bruce may indeed get his offer and shot at being a Vol.

Yeah I'm not sure how realistic their chances are with him. They seem to be high on his list right now but the in-state schools are up there for sure. I wonder if the whole Michigan State / QB situation will hurt their chances with kids at Cass Tech. I think MSU did the right thing but you never know how the high school will view it.

I was going to ask if anyone had heard if msu had pulled the QB kids scholarship. If they did, can't blame them at all.

in the Midwest it is a strong year for RBs. Five of the top 25 RBs in the country reside in the Midwest (6 if you count Kentucky's Damien Harris, but Kentucky is generally considered southeast). Weber may be the most well-rounded of the bunch. Can run between the tackles, can run on the edge and is an outstanding receiver out of the backfield.

This is my choice at RB this cycle. If we step our game up this year and show more progress (as a team in general) taking steps forward, these battles will become easier to win. Kids are leaving the north for the south more and more often, as the big whatever conference gets weaker and weaker. I think there were only 3 five stars that signed LOI's out of all those schools and "great coaches." The south has the weather appeal, and the lore of the greatest conference in all of the land. If we get these kids on campus and our coaches can speak with these kids parents we have a fighting chance against anyone. However, if we can sneak a couple upsets next year, again, we will win those battles.

Good post. I like that with Jones & Thig we're drinking in celebration instead of commiseration...Either way, I'm still drinking.

"I am visiting Tennessee this Friday," Weber reported. "Their coaches are keeping in good contact with me. I want to see if my position will come together like it is supposed to. I am real excited about the guys that are coming in and just want to see as far as the playing time."

Michigan has offered Weber and so has their Big Ten rival Ohio State. Those two are among the schools recruiting him the hardest at this time.

"I am honestly open to any college right now. I am just taking in my options and having fun with it. I always wanted to [commit] on TV at an All-American game, but if that doesn't work out I was thinking before the season starts."

"Alabama has been keeping in touch with me a lot and is starting to come into the picture a little bit," Weber said. "Wisconsin is Running Back University and they have a good program, so I'm looking at them too. I am going up to Wisconsin in April and we go out to Alabama every year for a 7-on-7."
