'15 NC DT Shy Tuttle (UT commit 9/26/14)

Maggitt is an elite DE talent. He needs to stay healthy. He sheds blocks well and can flat out get after the passer. Plus you can drop him back in coverage some if he's in the 3-4 as an OLB. He's got a lot of versatility and strengths to his game.

I like CM much more at pass rushing OLB (think Justin Houston) than DE at the pro level.

What???? If Maggitt can prove he can stay healthy he is. Barnett is a 3 year guy too. What are you watching.....

I'm not knocking the guys. I really enjoy watching both play. Maggie hasn't proved he can stay healthy which is the truth. Hes still a future nfl player which is saying a lot. Barnett had an incredible year but in my opinion he has plenty of room to improve which is obviously what every freshman has. But future first rounder, time will tell.

Tuttle didn't record a statistic in Friday's game, but impressed with two very good days of practice on Monday and Wednesday. The biggest knock on Tuttle is that he's not always engaged, but there's no doubt that when he's on and active, he has the tools to be special. The Tennessee commit plays with good leverage and when he's fired up he's excellent at getting pressure up the middle and disrupting the offense, both in running and passing situations.

Getting in early is going to be very important for this guy. It's surprising how much you can transform your body in just 7 months time.

310 and lighting quick is the goal

I haven't seen any reason to agree with this in the film of his I watched, but the review of him this past week makes it sound like he has a little ways to go mentally as well. I think being in the college environment with this team will make him more "hungry" as well.

Agreed.

Agreed, I think this is a guy that might need all the competition for snaps we're going to have. It sounds like he might have the tendency to get complacent if he's THE guy. Between all the talent on the DL and how good Coach Strip seems to be, I don't think Tuttle will have a problem finding motivation.

defensive line coach steve stripling on four-star defensive tackle shy tuttle: "shy is very competitive and plays with a big man mentality. His size and use of hands make him a force on the inside. We are excited to have him join our program."

Lol now he's a 4*. 247 couldn't handle Tennessee having 3 5* defensive linemen in the same class.

Yep. We have the best DL class in the country, but 247 couldn't let it be by that big of a margin. Probably the same reason that their analysis of McKenzie screams "best player in the country" but they crown Trent Thompson instead.

Well a year or two from now it won't matter when our DL is wreaking havoc on OLs. The talent is there and Strip will coach them up.

CSS is among the best. He doesn't speak with a lot of hype. You will see what he accomplishes on the field without all the talk. It will be awesome.
