This is probably great news for us.

I really like this kid, but we may get better prospects then this kid. Thats awesome.

It's alright by me. If Settle ends up a Vol, I'd love it. Most know my stance with recruiting/signing DL guys from last year:). I just hope this "text/twitter chat group" is not all a lot of Chuma's about to give UT fans a lot of heartache. Settle, DeBerry, Gibson, and others. I know there are a few UT current commits in that group. Andrew Butcher also thought that Tennessee was about to take Sterling Johnson. Hopefully our current commits don't get burned along with a lot of folks on this board.

Those hoping for the best, I'm cool with it. As with any Vol fan, I want to see us get the best players we can.

Yes. VQ mods said they want Johnson to camp this summer to evaluate him further after his stock dropped this spring with some poor performances. Obviously he didn't want to camp for a commitable offer and chose another school instead.

My thing is what IF somehow we don't land Settle? Or Jones? Do we have backup plans to these elite guys? I just cannot shake this negative feeling on passing on Johnson. I know we are in on better guys but Johnson was no bum.

After the DL haul in 2014 and IMO only taking (2) DT's in 2015 the staff can roll the dice a bit. I feel good about McKenzie. That means the staff has a very long time to decide on the last DT spot. Miss on both Settle and Jones, maybe Johnson reconsiders. Maybe the staff takes a kid like Howard late. IMO it's not much to worry about. Enough spots open up to take closer to 25, maybe the staff regrets passing on Johnson now. IMO not just taking kids now not knowing if there will be room to take them closer to NSD is a good plan.

I think McKenzie is a lock and Settle is probably 50/50 and yet I'm still bummed we didn't accept a commitment from Sterling Johnson...I am no expert by any means but I have watched a lot of his highlight videos and I think he looks like a good prospect. This tests the faith in the coaching staff just a little bit
