My professional opinion is that McKenzie is nearly a lock, Settle is a strong UT lean, and Jones is 50/50 between us and USC.

Clemson is after a ton of good DT's also. They dont want to scare off Settle and Shy Tuttle as well.

Didnt think of that. UT and Clemson are Settle's top 2. Johnson tried to commit to both

I just have a hard time believing we are passing on a elite DT like Johnson. What happens if we don't land Settle, McKenzie and/or Jones? CBJ knows more about recruiting than all of us on VN put together but I have to question him passing on Johnson. All I can hope for is that this doesn't come back to haunt us in the end.

Exactly this! Except I actually think Big Mac and Settle are in the fold, and we are pursuing Jones still. No one wants to believe we have 2 elite DTs as silents already...Butch says, "trust in me."

I doubt he will actually make it to our camp after he and his mom eliminated us and are upset that we slow played him

If UT was winning at the level bama was, maybe it could be a bit more cutthroat. IMO for now I'd rather see CBJ selling family and integrity to these kids and their families. Once we are looking at 10-11 win seasons, taking the chance of burning bridges would not hurt so much. I truly believe a coach can recruit well and still do it MY way while winning. JMO
