I think at least Smith very well could have been a UT lean in Dec. UT just did not have room to take him. Green may have been in the same boat. Lammons was another.

Should be a lesson for future recruits.

The Butch Train may slow down, but it never stops. Jump on while the getting is good, or when you finally get around to it you may find the train has already left the station.

Then, one of my good friends just committed there — (running back) Rocky Reid — and I was just thinking of all that they have to offer, and the fact that they’re back on the rise under Coach Butch (Jones),” said Johnson, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 121 overall prospect in the 2015 class by 247Sports.

“I want to get into communications and being a sports anchor, and I heard they’re building a studio or whatever for the SEC Network there. And they said I could get an internship there and kind of cover other sports. I thought that could be really cool and interesting.

“First of all, it’s the SEC, so it really don’t get no bigger than that. And, second of all, that can help me get a steady foot into that occupation.”

“The thing that stands out the most to me, by far, is their fan base. It’s insane,” he said. “It just, like, baffles me, really. I don’t remember their record from the year before last year, but I don’t think it was stellar or anything. But, year in and year out, they are with them, and they are packed every single game.”

Johnson said he’s planning to visit Texas, Florida, Florida State and Tennessee this summer, and he’s interested in visiting Alabama and Auburn. He said he also “just asked my coach to send off my film to Texas A&M, so I’ll possibly visit down there while I’m in Texas.”

He said he’s planning to wait “at least until the fall” to make his college choice.

“I told myself, if I make an All-American game, I’m going to announce at the game,” Johnson said. “But then I was like, well, I’m just going to announce it whenever my (All-America) jersey’s presented to me in front of the school.”

This is one of the guys I want most as one of our DTs in this class. He along with McKenzie and Jones would be amazing.
