Wow. Just watched his highlights. Kid is gonna be a beast when he gets his pad level right. Looks country strong.

Watching the film as big as he is, he looks like a man amongst boys. He was pretty much unstoppable getting to the QB or RB.

Several of 247 ratings are a big joke. It's hard to take it serious when you see kids getting bumped and dropped depending on who their leaning to. SJ is a top 110 on ESPN and will get a rivals bump. Four star on scout. Not sure what 247 is doing with butcher & sterling. Sterling is a UA All American. Maybe he hasn't gone to the camps the 247 guys are at. Pretty ridiculous.

Something definitely seems up with this. SJ is an awesome DT! No way can they justify this kind of drop. Just more motivation for the kid, I guess. Darrin Kirkland just got a CB to the Vols. He may be on his way down the 247 rankings as well.

I remember seeing something a couple weeks ago that he didnt do too hot a camp. My guess on the drop.

ill take the actual game footage over shorts and t shirts at a camp. thanks for that nugget though. I figured it may be something like that.

247 puts too much weight in 1 camp. He had a ok camp in front of them and they forget everything else he has done and drop like titanic

So one camp performance dropped him that far? did he kill over dead or something?

Dude had 51 tackles for a loss last season. video game numbers.

bottom line is he's an outstanding player and we would be lucky to have despite what "talent evaluators" say. By the way most of those guys have never played a down a football in their lives.

I had to do a double take when I saw this thread, Sterling Johnson is my wife's nickname for me!! Didn't read the whole thread...knowing Volnation I am probably way late on that joke!:p

"Recruiting is going really good. I definitely enjoy it," Johnson said. "I'll be back in Knoxville in June on June 21 for a visit." Johnson is hoping to make it to Rocky Top with fellow North Carolina defensive prospect Mook Reynolds as the two struck up a friendship after meeting at a basketball game earlier this year on a recruiting trip. "We met at the UNC-Duke basketball game when they played at UNC," Johnson explained. "Mook is a good friend of mine and I really like his personality when it comes to playing defense."

"After a couple of visits this summer and some official visits in the fall I'll be committing and the things are playing out and what I'm thinking, I'll probably be committing to Tennessee," Johnson explained. "So, I'm trying to get Mook to come with me so we'll see if it works out."

"They're bringing in the SEC Network studio and I want to be a sports anchor.They said I could do an internship there my sophomore year," Johnson said. "I talk to coach Thigpen every week or two and I really like coach Stripling from the time I met him."

"I know Rocky and his whole family and we talk when we're on visits. I know him, Andrew, Dylan, all of those guys," Johnson said. "It's special because it shows you the type of player you are to there people and it also shows that they want you to be apart of what they're doing and it makes it real special."

Johnson says he's going to take some visits with Nyheim Hines this summer. He also says he hopes to go to college with someone he already knows (ie Mook, Nyheim, etc), he knows he'll make new friends but he plans to go out of state and going with a friend you've known for awhile will make it more special.
