Like I've said since the first X game, our offense is fine, it's our defense that has been an issue. If we improve our consistency from the ft line, and continue to improve on defense we will improve tremendously as a team.

3- 45.2: Tennessee's offensive rebounding percentage. That's fourth in the country right now.
We were talkin possessions.
Caines said 63 so I gave him the stat. No dig intended.

If your offensive rebounding was near the best in the country would that not lower your possessions at least somewhat?
I'd have to study on that. got a source on the theory?
Sounds practical though.

I don't think us having that many possessions is because of Martin. He still has said he wants to get up and down the floor. I think you have to factor in opposing teams and also the fact that we almost average 15 offensive rebounds. That's a lot of second possessions that I dont think gets counted.

ORs are subtracted from equations for figuring possessions.
So your brain could be functioning properly.

Common sense.

1. More offensive rebounds = longer possessions.
2. We deny passes on the perimeter = longer possessions for opponent

We don't play "slow."

See your points, but as to CCM saying he wants the team to get up and down the floor, that's kind of like him saying he's focused on defense. At some point, as a coach/manager/leader, you have to be concerned if what you say and what you see consistently are two different things.

If you don't see this team is attempting to get up and down the floor then idk. We could play faster but we are pushing the pace

KenPom's stats are slightly different. Hmmm

1- 1.18: Tennessee's point per possessions this season, that's 28th in the country and 2nd in the SEC currently.

1.14 (19th overall, 2nd SEC)

2- 1.01: Tennessee's defensive efficiency (points given up per possession) which is 142nd in the country and 10th in the SEC currently.

0.98 (62nd overall, 7th SEC)

4- 6.2%: Darius Thompson's steal percentage. That's 11th in the country and 1st in the SEC.

9th overall

12- 26.6: Tennessee's free throw point percentage, top 40 in the country and third in the SEC.

56th overall

Other basketball teams.

What I'm watching isn't Wisconsin and it's not Kevin O'Neil ball.
Compare us to a team we'll be playing first conference.
LSU plays 81 possessions at home.
We play 63 to 65 on the road.
Their Or % is 48% at home.
Ours is 44% on the road.
Think we need to pull the tempo down to ours or go faster and try to beat them at their game?

I have no idea what the OR% is, nor do I care.

We need to play like we did the last two games. Whatever that means.

I will say this... When we play like garbage, there seems to be less movement in our O and we settle for moving the ball around the key and jacking threes. I think that is what is perceived as playing slow by our fans and possibly rightfully so. Personally, I think our D slows teams down and we get a lot of offensive boards which is what is showing up on the possessions per game stat. Using the eye test, we don't play like Kevin O is coaching.

I'd guess it falls in the middle for that game. Will be a tough one.
