'15 SC DE Rasool Clemons (Ole Miss commit)

I don't know why people are so concerned about his weight. It's not like he is going to be expected to contribute his first year with guys like Butcher, Phillips, and Jackson in the same class plus Henderson, Hendrix, Barnett, Vickers, and Miller from the previous two.

exactly. Everybody sees all of our new kids gaining weight when they hit campus and yet they still worry about it. this kid will be about 240-250 before you know it once a program gets a hold of him for a year or two.

People should be more focused on the potential of his frame. As you said, it won't take long for him to gain 40-50 lbs and I think ACV highlight some of his skill sets earlier in this thread.

He could be a real disruptive force on passing downs...down the road. I think people are forgetting what it is like to be able to red-shirt players.

"South Aiken (SC) four-star defensive end Rasool Clemons called this evening. He attended the Orange Carpet event in Knoxville today. Said he really enjoyed it. Said Vols are definitely the team to beat. Said he's still hearing from Tennessee and Clemson. Hopes to visit Clemson next. Said Butch Jones told him today he hopes he will be a VFL."

Ya think CBJ said that before he took Ford's commitment or after?

He knows you can never havE enough depth on dl.

If being realistic, of course you can. If you keep using scholarships on DL guys and don't spread the scholarships around to other positions you will lose a lot of ballgames. At some point, your 9th, 10th, and 15th guy on the DL depth chart is just taking up space on the bench.

Of course there are limitations.

Good quality depth is hard to build and something we hsvent hsd

a couple of those will play some DT

I already figured that in. CBJ took 9 guys on the DL in 2014. 7 look to play DL(Mosley and Robertson maybe to OL). Of those 7, I'd think 3-4 stick at DE. All the DEs in 2015 look to be DEs. (Still not buying the Jackson to OL talk). :p

Leb, you drive yourself crazy over numbers. He proved it last yr that it will work out. i dont even think the staff is as worried about it as you are. We have seen zero pass rush for years and when we start getting a loaded DL you want to complain about DL numbers.

He said in a position to rotate in 5-6 DEs like Mizzou did last year. Just pointing out the staff has taken enough DEs to do just that. He did not say all 5-6 had to be NFL 1st day picks.

Ill take second and third day if its quality over quantity.

I want to see production from the dl not the usual trend of the bottom half of every major category.

Honestly, it does not bother me at all. Just like to discuss recruiting and the numbers(who may or may not be a take and when) is a big part of it.

Of course "it will work out". It has to. There are only so many spots. I don't think the staff is worried about spots as they probably already have their board filled and likely the class is about finished.

I'm not complaining about the DL. Just trying to look it as realistic as possible. At some point, DL recruiting will have to slow down and kids who are sure "takes" will not be. If the staff had 20 top 100 DL kids who all wanted to be Vols, obviously the staff knows better than to do something like that. Even if the fans say, "the more the better".

You have good points, as usual. However Fort just yesterday said, "The staff would like one more DE." I'm certain that info will have come straight from the horses mouth. Whether that is a result from a spot opening up or not is just speculation, but I think it's pretty obvious we will be taking 1 more DE (hopefully Philips)
