'15 SC DE Rasool Clemons (Ole Miss commit)

I'm thinking with the addition of Ford yesterday the last one will be a SDE no matter what.

Yea, I mean it is still july and like every year some.will flip or be told to look around but it shouldnt be drastically different than what it is.now

Forgive my ignorance but is there a big difference from weak side to strong side? Strong side is bigger I'm guessing and weak side is more a pass rusher? Otherwise they are pretty interchangeable I would think.

That's pretty much the general explanation of the differences.

Many coaches like the strong-side DE to be bigger & stronger because they normally will have a TE lined up to their side & are subject to more pulling guards and power run plays at them because of them playing on the strong side of the offense's formation.

Typically, the weak-side DE is more leaner, quicker, and explosive off the ball than the strong-side DE. Normally the weak-side DE doesn't have to worry as much about run plays right at them and is commonly counted on & considered to be the premier pass-rusher on the team. Speaking in terms of a basic 4-3 defense.

It can be a little more complex than that depending on the type of defense and the coaches philosophy, but that's a general description.

Tight ends flip sides to block

One of Tennessee's needs in the class of 2015 is more help at the defensive end position as the Vols look to increase their pass rush off the edge in the coming years. On prospect on the Vols radar is Aiken, South Carolina's Rasool Clemons.

The 6-6, 212 pound Clemons was recently on Tennessee's campus for a second time. Clemons was in attendance for the Auburn game last fall and recently was back in town with his mother to check out the Vols in more detail.

"Tennessee has everything really organized and set up. Like on Monday's, your mom can see how you are doing on in school and can be update on tutoring and everything. Football wise, I like the atmosphere. You feel welcomed when you are there. You feel like you are at home. It's a nice quiet town. It's not too big. It's perfect."

Clemons who has at times indicated the Vols were on top said he has settled into a top 4 that he's focused on right now. Those four are the Vols, Florida State, Clemson, and LSU.

In addition to liking the structure of the program, the facilities and the town, it's the honesty that he feels around head coach Butch Jones and his staff that have left a lasting impression as well.

"I love the coaching staff," Clemons said. "They are just themselves. They don't try to do too much to sell you on the school. They are just themselves. It doesn't feel like there is anything fake."

Clemons said he has no timetable on making a college choice noting that he will commit when he believes he has found the right fit. He hopes to return to Knoxville in the coming months to see the Vols play as well as visit the other three schools in his top four as well. And while he doesn't have a timetable for a decision, he does have a timetable for getting bigger.

"I'm trying to at least get to 220 before the season starts," Clemons noted. "I know I have to get better to be a defensive end in college."

Rivals.com ranks Clemons as a four star player and the 13th ranked weakside defensive end in the country.

It blows my mind the amount of kids that blow opportunities because they couldn't pull even just half decent grades in HIGH SCHOOL. All you have to do is show up really and you can get by in high school. I just don't understand.
