'15 SC QB Kelly Bryant

Is it reasonable to suspect that Josh Dobbs will make a large margin of improvement in QB play from last year to this year? I realize he was a true freshman last year, but I just didn't see much to give me confidence that he is the game changer most of us were hoping he would be. Your thoughts?

I see it as a situation where a TFR QB was thrown to the fire. The kid looked bad against 3 of the best teams in the SEC. He could have done better vs candy IMO, but he did lead the team to a 2 TD win over uk. I really don't think it would have mattered who the QB was, at best they would have went 2-3 in those 5 games. IF Worley had been healthy, I think we would have beat candy and been bowling. IMO Dobbs did just fine considering the situation he was thrown into. He was 4th on the depth chart.

It's obnoxious when threads are bumped "for info" when everyone knows if there was any info, it would've been posted.

Or uninformed to the recruiting forum 'rules'. In any case, there's no reason to be a dick to him. He's a Vol fan asking about a recruit. That's all.

I was partially miffed at the basketVols playing like garbage, thus inciting my dickish commentary.

My apologies.

“They asked me how I felt about it,” Bryant said, recalling his meeting with Swinney. “I was like, ‘I’m not discrediting Trevor. He’s doing everything asked of him, but on my side of it, I feel like I haven't done anything to not be the starter. I've been here. I've waited my turn. I've done everything y’all have asked me to do, plus more.’

“I've never been a distraction. I've never been in trouble with anything. To me, it was kind of a slap in the face.”

oof. lonely is the head that wears the crown.

here's the silver lining, no matter what happens with KB....these big programs have been gobbling up big time QB's for several years. and each time you've seen a kid transfer that could see the writing on the wall.

the difference right now is that a few years ago, it was the 5* freshman that would transfer out as a freshman b/c maybe he got beat out by another highly touted freshman or veteran.

now we're seeing incumbants transfer because the younger guy takes the spot.

Eason left UGA, Bryant Leaving clemson, still a possiblity Jalen Hurts leaves Bama. not to mention all the younger kids that have transferred in the past Emory Jones to FL from OSU, Hunter Johnson leaving Clemson, Blake Barnett leaving Bama and on and on it could go. i think there was a kid that left USC too in the not too distant past?

anyway...my point being that there's just not enough big time QB's to go around anyway, much less at only a few programs.

the next crop of qb's should be paying attention, and should really pay attention to the rosters of whatever programs they're considering.

gonna be interesting to see how, if at all, there's any shift in how QB's are recruited, or at least how they make decisions on where to go.

Reading what was posted in 2015 about the QB class is great. We all wanted Gentry, who went to Michigan and became a tight end.

Jauan Jennings and Sheriron Jones were both ranked ahead of Joe Burrow.

Lamar Jackson was a 3* from Miami who Miami didn't offer.

Now we're seeing the flip side of "I'm not afraid to compete". Gambled and lost I guess.

yep. the thing that is weird, is how many of the younger guys that are taking incumbent's jobs. and they guys that are getting benched have been really productive players.

Should CJP reach out he would be eligible to start next year with one more season of eligibility. Living in SC I have seen many games and he is a winner. Curious what Volnation thinks?
