'15 TN ATH Jauan Jennings (UT commit 4/7/14)

How many times are we going to have this discussion?

VQ guys have said we are recruiting him at QB...so we are recruiting him at QB

For what it's worth his profile on rivals changed from a dual- threat QB to an ATH as well. All arguments aside he is a great player who would be a great addition to this class regardless of position. Just get him here on campus and figure out what position he plays later. That will take care of itself. I think we can all agree on that

So if it comes down to having to take one - two out of Gentry Gibson or Jennings at QB wouldn't you rather have Jennings as an ATH if we are lucky enough to get Gentry and Gibson.

Yes. But the likelihood of that happening is minimal at best imo. We'll get 2 of those 3.. unless somehow we can concince one of them they won't play QB and still get them in the fold. It's hard enough to pull 2 QB's in one class. 3 is virtually impossible.

I said at the beginning. He is being recruited as a QB. He does have abilities to play other positions. However, he is being recruited to play QB. Case closed.

Welcome to the board.

Son plays at Blackman. Your info is true and has been that way for awhile.

I have played against Jennings, and while I don't believe he will be a college QB, I do think he is a phenomenal athlete, like everyone else has said. He is a determined kid and I hope I am one of the doubters he proves wrong about playing QB.

His main problem is decision making. When Blackman played Maryville, they were up 6 or 7-0 and driving around Maryville's 20 yard line and he threw an interception which brought Maryville back into the game, if IIRC. I'll be interested to watch his development this year.

I was at that game. The key to JJ is keeping him in the pocket. Maryville blitzed him in the first half. Kept him in the pocket the second half and he made poor decisions.

Okay, so assume rumors are true, and Jennings is a lock, where does that leave us?

* I don't buy in that Jennings is our 1 or 2 QB prospect.

* I don't see Butch and Co taking his commitment this early if they thought it would hurt their chances with another prospect.

* If we take Jennings, that leads me to believe we are taking two "QB" this class.

So what is most likely, we are taking Jennings and a true ath? We are taking Jennings as a S? Butch and Co feels we are likely to land another QB, who has express they are okay with competing against another QB in the same class? Or (I hope this isn't the case) Butch and Co do not like our chances at landing another QB?

Personally, I do not think we are taking Jennings as a QB, but as an ath. I don't see why you take a QB(that isn't 1 or 2 on your board) commit this early, without seeing any of his senior season, to see how he is progressing. I have a feeling Jennings has be told he will 100% be given every opportunity at QB, but ultimately be used where ever he can help the team the most. Does anyone disagree?

Do you guys watch his film before questioning his position?

I will be the first to tell you that I had my doubts about him being recruited as QB.

He has been told in no uncertain terms that he is being recruited at the QB position.

Everyone can look at his numbers and guess that CBJ is going to bait and switch him to safety. I do not believe Jones would do that. That kind of recruiting in this era would be a terrible idea.

The kid wants to play QB and he has been told he will have his chance.

Watched hudl. Saw a large percentage of passed that would have been jumped and picked in the SEC. Admittedly in part to the route the wr ran, but he still chose to make those passed. I also saw very very few passes completed in stride. Most passes the WR had come to complete stop. I'm by no means saying he cannot or will not be and QB in the SEC. But for you to point to his highlights as if it would prove us wrong, well, thats just silly. Lets remember, those are highlights...that is the best of the plays he had. To me, it looked an awful lot like they took one of their best athletes on the team, made sure he could throw, and told him to take snaps.

Jennings is a great athlete, and athletes can get away with a lot, but not at QB, not in the SEC.
