'15 TN ATH Jauan Jennings (UT commit 4/7/14)

Watched hudl. Saw a large percentage of passed that would have been jumped and picked in the SEC. Admittedly in part to the route the wr ran, but he still chose to make those passed. I also saw very very few passes completed in stride. Most passes the WR had come to complete stop. I'm by no means saying he cannot or will not be and QB in the SEC. But for you to point to his highlights as if it would prove us wrong, well, thats just silly. Lets remember, those are highlights...that is the best of the plays he had. To me, it looked an awful lot like they took one of their best athletes on the team, made sure he could throw, and told him to take snaps.

Jennings is a great athlete, and athletes can get away with a lot, but not at QB, not in the SEC.

alright, Coach. we get it.

I will be the first to tell you that I had my doubts about him being recruited as QB.

He has been told in no uncertain terms that he is being recruited at the QB position.

Everyone can look at his numbers and guess that CBJ is going to bait and switch him to safety. I do not believe Jones would do that. That kind of recruiting in this era would be a terrible idea.

The kid wants to play QB and he has been told he will have his chance.

QB

I am sure he will get a chance, but I wouldn't be shocked if it lasts a few weeks.

hes also only played the position for 1 season. let the kid develop. no matter what happens that boy is a hell of an athlete and ill be glad he is on our side.

I agree, he is a fantastic athlete. But you do you risk losing Gentry or Gibson over and athlete that has played QB for 1 season, 2 by the time he shows up on campus?

Sure, you take him as an ATH, and give him every chance to prove himself at QB. But you have to be honest with him, that he is an ath recruit that will have his chance at QB.

Nick Marshall did alright for his first season in SEC ball playing QB. kid threw for about 60% which isnt great but isnt the worst.should be better next yr.Also ran for almost a smany yards as Neal did and Neal had a great yr. he also completed more balls than both Worley, Peterman and Dobbs combined. Who knows how it will turn out but point is just let him develop.

Instagram account profile pic is from his recent Auburn visit, FWIW. Maybe something, maybe nothing - just sharing.

I'm not of the opinion that it'll be just a "bait and switch." I have no doubt that he will get a fair shot at QB, I also think if he isn't the best candidate the coaching staff will ask him if he will consider a switch... I don't think they'll force a switch.

because worst case scenario if he doesn't win the qb job, he is a nice change of pace option incase of an injury. Bringing in a guy this mobile could kill a defensive gameplan.

Yeah, we definitely know how that works out!

I can't wait for the roller coaster this thread will go through this fall as Jennings' stats are released.

I did say film not highlights. Its sad he hasn't stepped foot inside a college field and he is already being written out of his position.

Does anyone know if Blackman has any D1 type WRs or TEs this year? That would aid in him putting up better stats as a SR I would think.

They have one WR who is an underclassmen that Ohio St coach spoke to at practice with JJ. I was there that day.

I can't imagine his game film is better than his highlight film, if so, he needs to get someone else to slap together his highlights.

And as far as writing him off, I'm pretty sure most of us agree he deserves a shot at QB. That is between him and the coaching staff of whatever school he chooses. I just don't think he is the only QB we will take. Which makes me think, in my opinion only, that he is a take as an ATH.

I thought his highlights looked pretty damn good so I said film because you must be seeing something I don't. Vq has consistently said coaches are recruiting him at QB so like you said, it is between him and the coaches if there is any concern. You originally said you could not see him as 1 or 2. Clearly you were wrong.

Tim Tebow I'll give you that one
Cam Newton Big difference between and athlete and an athletic QB
And LSU quarterbacks ?

It's happened before, and it will happen again. But I don't see a huge amount of hope in his highlight film, compared to Gentry or Gibson.

It's been said on many occasions that Gibson and Gentry and 1 and 2 on the board, in differing orders. Jennings himself has been quoted saying some school are willing to recruit him as only a QB, while others are recruiting him as ATH. He has not, to my knowledge, said which school are recruiting him which way. Which is why we are all speculating.

As far as his film goes, sure, its good. He shows great awareness, and pretty good arm strength. Where I see some "major" , more like minor, issues is in his accuracy. Like I said, many passes brought wr's to a complete stop. I also some quite a few passes that were not the best decision to make, most of which would result in a turn over in the SEC.

Although I admit, he appears to have the talent. Most if not all of the issues I see come with the territory of a young, new, QB. He can certainly be coached up, and has massive potential to be a great QB. But, do you risk turning away other QB's by recruiting him solely as a qb? With the questions marks we have on our roster at QB, I think the safest bet would be to recruit him as a ATH.

Like I mentioned, you absolutely give him his shot at QB. Ideally, RS him for a year, and see how well you can build him at QB.

Anyone can look at film and see he has flaws as a passer. Obviously, Butch (and Miss St, Auburn, Kentucky, Ohio State) thinks he can develop into a QB.

So basically, there are some on this board who either know more than CBJ or are saying he is lying to kids regarding their recruitment.

This kid is being recruited as a QB. Plain and simple.

the kid is raw as a qb. I think just if he puts in the work will make a solid qb at the next level. That being said he is a great athlete and you cant teach that.
