I'm happy with Jennings at QB as well, but we need to sign another for depth purposes.I've thought for a while that JJ seems extremely motivated to improve as a QB. His combination of talent and desire to succeed at that position could help him become the player we all hope he can be. TG might have more athleticism, but I doubt he has that burning desire to improve his skills as QB that JJ has demonstrated. The more I hear about his improvement since his last season ended, I'm increasingly anticipating watching his Sr. season to see how the progression continues. I'm almost to the point where I'm fine with JJ as our only QB in this class.
if jj was wearing #2 at the qb camp then i can promise the guy has been working on his craft. I was watching a lot of the guys and from what i saw he has been working on bringing his arm more uprite and also compacting his release.
He has some work to do, but it is obvious to me he has been putting in the work.
as a side note, on the nearest side of the field there was this one kid that side armed all of his passes to such an atrocious degree i actually nearly laughed while watching him.
I was at just about all of Jauan's games last year and I will likely be at all of them this year. My honest opinion is that he has a ways to go if he's going to play qb at TN. His biggest problem is consistency. He'll make a great throw then a bad throw. Can he improve a great deal in his senior year? Absolutely, and he is a freak athlete so I am happy to have him whatever position he winds up playing.
He has improved greatly from all accounts on here. Still has a whole summer and another season to improve. He will probably take a red shirt which would be great for his development. He has a long ways to go before we will probably need him.
The kid plays QB. He is at UT going through QB camp, yet he is listed as an athlete.
Gibson is referenced as being 'more athletic' but Jennings having a better arm and passing skilss, yet Gibson listed and recruited as a QB.
VN needs to at least have this kid listed as QB/ATH and not just ATH.
My uninformed take on what happened this weekend. JJ impressed the coaches so much, they realized they already had their DT QB committed and could afford to take their top pro-style QB, even if it meant turning TG off. Dormandy wanted to commit, and they didn't hesitate to accept.
