'15 TN ATH Jaylond Woods (UT Commit 4/20/13)

Teague didn't have sufficient straight line speed to be an sec D back. Potentially he could have made it as a slot receiver. His body type and skill set and remained me of Gerald Jones. But definitely was never going to make a high level cb regardless of position changes. I remember against Uf he got blown off the field against the te

Or catch up speed either

As a man who played in one of the hardest divisions in east TN, I can't really disagree with the talent argument.

But we also said the same thing about some kid from a tiny AA school named Randall Cobb who wanted a shot at QB. I hear he's doing ok now.

We gave Cobb a pretty decent shot to play here....as a WR. Fulmer was upfront and honest that he wouldn't be a QB. He didn't like that. So he went to UK who told him he could play QB and promptly switched him to WR, which was likely their intentions from the beginning. Brooks "deceived" him, Fulmer didn't.

Randall got significant QB snaps at UK before he moved to WR permanently. UK did give him an opportunity at QB, as they told him they would. It was his choice in the end to give up the QB snaps.

Because the exception is all that can be pointed out.

Are you serious?

Go count up all the 3 star prospects from the last 10 years.

Now count how many made an all conference team or got drafted.

The "hit rate" will jump off the page.

Pretty easy to point out if you're willing to crunch the numbers imo

He started at WR his FR year and finished the last 4 games as QB. Then basically moved to WR full time his SO yr. I don't consider that significant snaps but we'll agree to disagree. Main point being, we didn't miss on Cobb. He was a solid WR and AP guy at UK and that's what we offered him as. He just didn't want to listen at the time.

Larry aka LWS put a very detailed spreadsheet outlining this very topic. Don't know if he still posts on volnation. But if he does, maybe he can hit us up with an attachment to show how accurate/inaccurate these recruiting services actually are.

Randall was never a UT fan anyways so we didnt have a advantage over him for being a local kid

Absolutely not true. UT was his dream school!
Worked at Neyland stadium.

To get him, all Coach Fulmer had to say: "You will get a shot at playing QB."
CPF did not, uk did...end of story. :hi:

Anybody know if he got cleared or not

Appeal denied, according to Jesse Smithey of the News-Sentinel.

Looks like Woods won't be playing football anywhere during his senior year.

And if the reports of his academic issues are accurate, that may not be a bad thing. Perhaps he needs to spend that time working on his academics instead of playing football.
