'15 TN ATH Jocquez Bruce (UT commit 6/17/14)

I am very impressed with Jo Bru's video and attitude. How will his moves work in the SEC? I dunno, but I'd rather recruit players who have moves than players who don't. Maybe VN's more qualified talent scouts would care to comment.

Disagree...they wouldn't be commits if that was the case...you think Butch is in THAT big of a hurry?

It happens every year. You do realize that guys decommit right? Butch has the luxury of being picky for this class. Some of these commits are gong to be asked to go elsewhere. It's part of recruiting. Also nobody is an official commit until the LOI is signed. Everything is verbal and nothing is set in stone right now.

If you follow the thread, I wasn't disputing the fact that DECOMMITS happen...what is being discussed is the the thought pattern that if a BIGGER FISH starts swimming near the hook, that Bruce simply drop Bruce for the star grab...previous examples of Booth and Dews are given and my contention is that if our coach accepts your commitment he won't yank it...maybe like Mouhon,Dews and Booth, they are given the soft sell that playing time won't be as readily available as previously discussed and it might be in their best interest to pursue other openings...that ain't the same thing IMO...and this year has unfolded with TWO prospects' commits not being accepted in Johnson's and Shelley's cases....that shows that Butch has learned to be more selective in handing these spots out...they're not willy nilly as has been suggested...once again IMO.

Given 3rd star on scout fwiw. Previously a 2-star on their site

He's gonna show out this year. His team returns pretty much everybody and it sounds like some skill guys are coming along that will help take some pressure off him.

I think I heard he scored on the first play of the scrimmage the other night on a long run after getting outside. Their qb looks a ton better from what I hear.

What's crazy about this situation is how far the South-Doyle program has come. I'm a Cherokee alum. My first year in 2004 our team went 0-10. 2005 we went 1-9. Things got marginally better for a couple years but in 2010 we were back down to 1-9. For SDHS to put a 3 star athlete out there and be making the playoffs again is a minor miracle.

We went to school together and I must say I completely agree when I was there winning one game was like us winning a bowl game...if we won two it was like we were the super bowl champions

No joke. Meanwhile the baseball team was putting like 6 players into the MLB draft lol.

South Doyle has a jamboree tonight. If anyone goes, let us know how he does.. I have to work, or I'd go.

The South Doyle starters are only going to play one possession in the Jamboree tonight. South Doyle scrimmaged at Oak Ridge last night and had a really good scrimmage, outscoring Oak Ridge 20-6 in ones vs. ones.

South Doyle doesn't play until week 1 on August 29 at Heritage, while many teams open up next week in week zero. They will scrimmage Central on Thursday.

Yeah I was surprised how they smashed oak ridge like that.. Especially with mr recruiter back coaching for them.

Not sure on all starters, but Joc was out there for most of the time. Not sure on stats, but I don't remember anything spectacular

dsouth16: Sat 12:05am Final stat line for #Vols commit Joc Bruce: 9 carries, 108 yards & 2 rushing TDs. Also had a pick-six. Didn't play much in second half.
