'15 TN ATH Jocquez Bruce (UT commit 6/17/14)

Agreed!
Why would someone verbally throat punch a recruit our staff is busting their tail to get?
As per joc's Twitter statement- the recruits do read volnation ! These kids are high school kids and I do believe if they are having a difficult time with a choice, public opinions could sway them.
Butch and co has been kicking butt recruiting, why don't we shut up and let the boys do their jobs.

I wish freak would sticky recruiting 101 for dummies!

Is "throat punch" what they call I DON' T THINK THE KID IS THAT GOOD nowadays? I personally think he is and that's why Butch offered him...but expressing the opposite opinion shouldn't be considered an assault on the kid! Joc can go one of two ways on this (since he reads this board)...continue to ball out and live a dream most of couldn't imagine, by running through the T next season...or curl up in a shell because of a mean VN poster and check out the fine program at Carson-Newman. :angdev:

I just think a lot of people over the years get nervous about Knoxville talent because we have missed on a lot of the good ones, and hit on some of the bad ones. Dennis Rogan, Aaron Douglas, Randall Cobb, Nick Revis, and TKJR are just some of the very, very good players to come out of the Knoxille/Maryville/Alcoa region. Unfourtantly, we have also had our share of heartaches with guys like Anthony Anderson, Tyler Maples, Brandon Warren, D. Young (although I thought the UGA game was his best ST performance ever), etc. I played basketball against Anthony Anderson when he was at Austin East. I can personally promise you that there is no better athlete to come out of S. Knox in the last 10 years. It goes to show you just how little being a great athlete gets you at UT. Everyone at UT ran over people in high school. You get here you have to have the mental ability and drive to be something special.

I don't think we could do this to him. Bruce wanted the offer too bad to rip it away from him a few months later. I understand how recruiting works and some commits will be asked to move on but this case is different. Knowing how Bruce feels about UT, he should never have been offered if his spot came with that asterisk.

Offers aren't given out in a vacuum. Who knows what sort of paths and contingencies are in place when commitments are accepted.

I'll never understand why anyone would want to pick apart recruits. The coaches gave them an offer for a reason. As Vol fans we should be welcoming them and supporting them as future Vols, not bad mouthing them. Some of you really are idiots.

They're the same people that got wedgies in high school. They're losers. Just watch for the replies to this post. They will ID themselves.

@JocBruce06: I really need to stop reading my VolNation page

If anyone wonders if recruits read the garbage some spew on here....STFU

I've been saying recruits read Volnation for years but some of the nutjobs here keeps disagreeing. Here is your proof. Let's stay classy.

Every recruiting message board is going to be like this. People are critical especially if a recruit is rated low by the recruiting services. Every fanbase has some people with opinions and some will rub people the wrong way.

What's important is the staff's evaluation of Bruce. I would just say to the kid that none of our opinions mean anything on the message boards whether we're tearing you down or we're building you up to be an elite player. It probably hurts to see fans tear you down when you've dreamed of playing for a team your whole life BUT you've got your dream, make the most of it.

You're there to count...beats paying taxes. :). Were you counting me revealing my wife's passing as one such breakdown?...or all 3?

No. We've all expressed our condolences for that.

What you routinely do is get so fired up - likely because you are seemingly on here 24/7 - that you meltdown when people call you on your childish behavior and excessive douchebaggery. You then proceed to regret it, apologize to everyone, then blame it on personal hardship.

Your loss has to have been really brutal, and I can't imagine how hard it would be, but it's no excuse for acting like a total jerk and routinely lampooning 17-18 year old recruits with totally unfounded non-sense. Act your age. :hi:

I think Joc has a lot of potential on either side of the ball. I personally prefer him as a corner back. Watch his hudl from his year this far. He has excellent closing speed and good ball skills. He also has great quickness and he's not necessarily a 4.3 guy but he still has good speed, he's not going to be a liability on deep balls like Coleman. Again watch his senior hudl and you will see that he has the speed to play corner and i think he could play outside and not just the nickel. He blows up screens just like Cam does and no it wasn't just that one big hit that everyone saw, he does it consistently. I think he could be a good slot receiver but I like who we have there already and I peronalky think he has the most potential on the defensive side of the ball anyways. Good find by Butch and his staff.

Okay, I'll bite. So you're saying that anyone who posts a negative opinion of a recruit is equivalent to the kids who were bullied in school by people who felt entitled to publicly humiliate "losers" on a regular basis?

Pot, kettle...

Most importantly, I'm glad to have Bruce on the commitment list. If CBJ & co. like him, then I like him.

"Routinely"?....we're having this discussion because I'm defending the right of a dude I "routinely" disagree with, to express his opinion on a recruit...and I don't even share that opinion! I don't even think you read this thread...you saw butchna on there and jumped feet first with your programmed agenda...I think you're a computer simulation program drummed up by some Cal Tech or somesuch poster who's taken a disliking to me...hence the 1940s lingo and robotic lack of personality (clown shoes?)...I "routinely" defend recruits and am a staunch opponent of "recruiting over"...your whole spiel is based on my belief that Torrance Gibson wasn't a fit...a majority of the vitriolic back and forths that I was engaged in on those threads also involved the poster I'm defending on this one! I'm on here a lot?...yeah. Why are you so worried about that? And for you to constantly talk about my age as if you're a spring flower? How come most of your dialogue sounds like you were a script writer for Abbott and Costello meets Frankenstein? And your inference that I use personal problems to bail out? Shame on you little robot...I created a cancer to inflict on my wife of 17 years so I could eventually use it as a crutch on a message board? I'm sorry that Boardwalk Empire ended it's run and you have no one else that talks like you...but don't take it out on me.

He doesn't know what he is talking about. He just blindly jumped aboard the bandwagon to hate on all of volnation because a player was discussed mildly in a player thread.

Noted: Never ever have a question about the talent level of a commit lest you be labeled a nega, godless heathen, and a bully.

Well, until he's no longer a Vol and people take off their orange tinted glasses. Then their opinions on him suddenly change. Funny how that works.

Some people just aint happy unless there is drama, controversy, arguments, or just plain unwarranted judgments made. This is a young man, excited to play football for the University of Tennessee. I don't care how many "stars" he is. The staff believe in him. He believes in himself. Welcome to the Vol Family Joc. Can't wait to see you in Neyland.

What people have to understand is it's a freaking message board. You're not going to get patted on the back and have people give you the same opinion on every thing. The more you argue with someone with a different opinion the more strongly the opposing person will argue for their opinion. When it's on a recruit especially a local one it gets especially ugly it seems.

Bruce should take the criticism and the compliments in the same sense because neither make a damn. He should also realize he is getting an opportunity that most of us "idiots" on this message board would kill for.

Don't come in here with that kind of logic. This is VolNation. We need to be able to bash 17 year old kids to make us feel better about ourselves.

I think you need to re-read my post. Also, I am a spring flower and you just had another meltdown.
