'15 TN ATH Nathan Cottrell

I think there were several people who congratulated him when he accepted the GT offer. I agree, I haven't seen much bashing...

No other schools are offering him, why is that? You, as well as others keep harping on him getting an offer. Has he earned an offer? I don't think any of the SEC schools feel that he has either. Maybe that will change in the months to come.

How do you define earning an offer? By attending a one, or two day camp?

Cottrell was offered by Cinci and Ga Tech and then a few lower level programs.

Bruce had not "earned" an offer from UT until he "camped" at UT for a day or two. Point is you want to bash Cottrell for not attending UT's camp and I am not bashing either player.......

might want to read starting at page 53 - a number of comments regarding Cottrell's non-attendance at Tennessee's most recent camp. Seems to portray Cottrell in a negative light for not attending.

I heard Cottrell's interview on Sport's Animal by Hyams last week and Cottrell said at that time that he had not decided on whether he was going to camp at UT or not. As I recall he stated that he had a number of camps scheduled.

I have not bashed Cottrell, I just don't understand why you are campaigning for him to get an offer? In my opinion, if he wanted the offer, he would have at least camped to earn it. I stated that the only camp that Bruce attended was the UT camp...that is because he wanted that offer. That's not bashing, but that is stating fact.

I guess your definition of "bashing" and many others' interpretations are different. That is merely stating that if he really wanted a UT offer, then he would have attended our camp. That is not discrediting the kid.

This is why these discussions get like this because people take it to the extreme.

This may end up being the first player thread that I add to my ignore list.
The Hawkins and Rollins threads were like this too. It's a local prospect that doesn't get a UT offer but gets another d1 offer thing. It's also more than annoying

Serious question - just exactly what position would NC play at UT even if he earned the offer? Is he better than Hurd, Scott, Paulk or even Reid at RB? No. Bruce wasn't better than them either. But he has a skill set they could use in the slot - after he camped with them. Which is the point. NC didn't camp with them to see if there was a position he was good enough that he could work into the rotation at some point.

NC committed to an excellent school and a decent football program. It's a win-win.

I don't remember them being this bad. This is the first player thread that the thought has ever crossed my mind about putting it on ignore. If we weren't in the running so heavily with TG, then I would consider putting it on ignore as well.

It's interesting that coaches don't just extend offers based on Sparq scores who runs a faster 40. Seems like a foolproof strategy.

No it is portraying you in negative light for being ignorant of the facts.

Seems about the same to me. A couple of local guys really pushing the local kid. Varying degrees of if he has the talent and they have a role he can contribute he'll get an offer. For the most part everyone is of the same tone, "wish the kid the best, hope he is successful wherever he goes. If CBJ thinks he's good enough that is good enough for me." The "pro-local kid" posters are much more aggressive IMO.

Ha. That's funny.

Can you believe how awful West's weight room is? Fortunately, they broke ground on a new 400K training facility that will be complete in August.

It looked fine to me. Our room, (Carter 95-98) was probably 15 feet by 40 feet. We had to spill over into the locker room for military presses. No wonder we lost 29 of 30. Smh

I swear Patrick our coaches are good at evaluations, regardless at how much you continue to attempt to disprove that. You can try and wrap your head around certain things but at the end of the day you have no control. If you disagree, cool, but at the end of the day I don't see you making any type of money as a coach in the SEC. And you bringing facts into the picture only tells part of the story. You continue to not see that though

Lol. Can't believe this thread is this long.

Nathan came to GT camp..had a good showing got a offer and committed...decided not to camp at any other schools and go to Georgia Tech.

Will or should have the Vols offered..thats something we will only know years from now.

The system at Georgia Tech is perfect him..makes sense to me why Tech would jump on him before other schools. He's a every down player at Tech while he would be more situational at other schools IMO.
