'15 TN CB Ugo Amadi

Every DB that CBJ has recruited outside of Payne and Berry is 6'1"-6'3" CBJ saw the Super Bowl and "Got it" ( before SB but got confirmation from it) and is going in that direction with Mullins and Ordway leading more big DBs to follow

It is not changing nearly as quickly in the NFL, and I am not sure it ever will. The defensive players are just too strong and fast to have a true "dual threat." Sure, there are guys who have modified it. Russell Wilson is a great runner, but he mainly passes the ball. He ran 3 times in the SB. I will believe it when I see it if some NFL team runs an Auburn-type attack. The QB will not make it half the year.

I still think Auburn was an anomaly. Marshall is electric, but he is not a very good passer, and they were fortunate.

Agree and the reason Wilson didn't have to run very much was due to the threat that he can run "at will" which opened up the pass. Marshall has one of the strongest arms in CFB but his accuracy is less than average.

11 of 23 CBs who hold UT offers this year are listed under 6'. In the 2014 class 24 of the 41 that held offers were listed under 6'. In the 2016 class there are 6 total DBs who hold offers. 5 of the 6 are listed under 6' and that does not include Banks who may end up at CB. CBJ is obviously recruiting a lot of DBs who are not 6'1-6'3.

Or its much more rare to find a bigger CB who can ball. For awhile, there will be still be plenty of smaller CB's, but there will come a time when they are pretty much all bigger, IMO.

And there you have it.

I knew that had to be the case. Nobody in their right mind chooses Ole Miss over Tennessee or any other far better options. If they passed on Shelley because of his size, then it makes sense they would on Amadi. I've seen a few of the Rivals guys who have seen both in person say Shelley is actually a good half inch to an inch taller than Amadi.

This. Much harder to find quality corners with size. If you can find them and feel like you have a great shot with them, then you take them all day over the 5'8 or 5'9 guy.

Agree but I'm willing to bet the actual takes that actually play DB will be 6' plus. He may take some under 6' for other positions. Remember the resounding message all Spring has been about becoming a more physical football team.

TK is 6' if that more like 5'11". Not all DBs need to be humongous to be great. Possibly (Sherman is probably the best) the best DB on Seattle's roster is 5'9"-5'10". Definitely #2

Also, as we hinted in the War Room, we're hearing strongly now that Vincent Perry and Ugo Amadi are expected to be on campus tomorrow for practice. They were originally scheduled to be at Ole Miss this weekend but they are now scheduled to be in Knoxville.

I was about to bump Ugo's thread today, this one is not over.

Kind of sounds like the staff may be reconsidering their stance on Ugo and his height not being what they are looking for at CB. Wanted to see him in Orange from the jump. Maybe we still get him.

Is UT still after Ugo? Is he listening?

I think they have just recently started to mend the relationship. I believe Ugo felt like the Vols weren't recruiting him as hard as other teams and there's some merit to that. But, I think that is very likely changing as he and Butch had a long talk the other night.

Why have we had a change all of a sudden from recruiting big CBs to small? Ugo and the 2016 CB from TX, Phillips.

We need true corners bad and it sounds like the height is a non issue for him as he has been doing really well at camps. He is also former teammates of Martin and good friends with Perry, Phillips and others. It makes sense. I never knew why we lost focus on him when we had the lead. Buck knows DBs and said kid is a baller take him all day
