'15 TN DB Cameron Ordway

My grandparents lived there. My hero and a VFL was my Granddaddy :hi:

When I was 7, there was a huge klan gathering in a small valley just outside of Pulaski. My Granddaddy took me to the top of a hill overlooking this sea of white hoods. He told me to look at this huge collection of hatred based on ignorance. He warned me to never associate with these misguided people. He truly detested everything they stood for.

He was a road construction foreman. He treated everyone exactly the same. He was a wonderful role model. He passed away when I was 15. 36 years later and I still miss him. He would fall asleep listening to the Vols on the radio. Even though he was snoring, if you turned off the radio, he would say that he was listening and be able to tell you what the last play was :)

Thanks for sharing :hi:

He may be a Vol but I'm pretty sure it won't be this weekend. Says he won't commit until football season.

Is this one of those times where they lie to you via text message?

I don't mean this in a deragatory way. Just wondering if they are trying to keep it quiet to make it a surprise.

Great story! I also learned my love of the Vols from my grandfather. I'm lucky enough to still have him calling me every Sunday to talk about how good or bad we looked.

Same for me. Took me to games at the age of 4.

"I would say they are kind of on top right now," Ordway said. "I need to take more visits because there are some other schools coming hard too, but Tennessee is definitely standing out right now."

In town for the Orange Carpet day on Rocky Top with his family, Ordway found the visit different than his previous trips to Knoxville.

"Just being around a bunch of different guys and I was able to bring my mom up was different too," Ordway said. "It was good for her to see what Tennessee has to offer and spend time with the coaches."

So what puts Tennessee in prime position to land one of the top players in the Volunteer state? It's as simple as being able to see what is coming in the very near future with Butch Jones and his Vols.

"They are rebuilding here and I like that," Ordway said. "You can see the progress they are making. The new facilities and all the stuff they are doing here is impressive. They are getting a lot of top recruits and Tennessee is definitely getting better every day. They are going to come back on top and knock down some of the teams that have been on top like Bama and Auburn."
