'15 TN DT/OL Zach Stewart (UT Signee 2/4/15)

Perhaps with copper basin being a spread option team he was playing assignment football. Sometimes a player plays a good game by playing within the team gameplan....not worried about stats

What you really wanna look for in high school OL is feet, hands, and strength.

The rest can come around.

Also would like to ses amean streak develop. Will be honest, it hurt me I didnt develop one till Senoir year in high school.

I had the pleasure of meeting this young man last night. He is a class act. I think he said yes sir at least 20 times during our brief conversation. Reminds me a great deal of Austin Sanders.

After racking up 117 tackles, 23 TFL and 14 sacks this year, Stewart (6-4, 265, Coalfield HS) was named to the 1A all-state team as a sophomore. Already a 3-year starter, he's a small-town guy who may very well have big-time talent.

Stewart totally dominated this camp from an athletic point of view and a physical point of view. It's hard to believe that someone this young and big is so athletically gifted. He must have taken 25 reps of one-on-ones going against all challengers losing only one rep. He is a natural hip and knee bender with the strength to totally stonewall smaller quicker pass rushers. Stewart proved to be very tough playing with an attitude bent on destruction. There was no question about who the most dominant OL/DL was in this camp. His herculean effort earned him OL MVP.

Stewart has been a terror on defense and a monstrous blocker on offense. He won offensive lineman awards galore in the offseason at various camps and brought that play to the field this fall.

Weird/hard to believe that Zach Stewart was born in 1997!

Does that mean he will start varsity for 6 years total by the time he graduates?

With his size the only thing is whether or not he can move his feet. I watched Chad Clifton a couple of times his senior year and opposing coaches were saying he was getting beat off the edge by the DE's. I pointed out that he would not be playing against 170 Lb DL and also pointed out that he ran down the QB who ended up being a college outfielder. If they have the frame to carry their weight easily and can move their feet they can play OL at a high level.

If you want to see how he really handles himself catch him this coming week versus Knox Catholic I think... Keep in mind he is a 2015 kid... Give him time to develop his speed and agility. I saw him in Oak Ridge a few weeks ago and he is specimen.

How is he a 3 year starter if he is class of '15? Does varsity football start in 8th grade in Tennessee?

I played football at a Tennessee HighSchool. The school was 8th grade (Sub-freshmen) thru 12th (Senior)
So, 8th graders were allowed to play. In fact, our coachs son was the starting q.b. as a sub-freshman.

If a high school and elementary school share one building like coalfield does a kid can play in the 8th grade. 7th grade for that matter.
