'15 TN DT/OL Zach Stewart (UT Signee 2/4/15)

Lol you are very observant to catch that

How in the heck did u notice that?! Wow lol

lol I was going through the pics on utsports and when I saw that one I happened to notice the people above Tiny wearing lanyards so I figured it must be recruits. And that kid looked like Stewart. Guess I was right!

Anyone know who the others are? Looks like it's probably Stewart's family with him. I wonder who that is behind him?

Is that Zach Stewart right above Tiny's helmet?

Creepy

Named a TN Mr Football Finalist:

If you take a look at the finalists for the state’s Mr. Football award, you’ll see he’s done a pretty good job of winning that battle in his first 11 months on the job.

2014 Vol commits Derek Barnett, Todd Kelly Jr and Aaron Medley were named finalists for the award on Thursday.

2015 Vol commits Zach Stewart and Jack Jones were also named finalists.

5 Vol Commits Named Tennessee Mr. Football Finalists

If a high school and elementary school share one building like coalfield does a kid can play in the 8th grade. 7th grade for that matter.

They also have to share the same principle. We found out that little change a few years ago when we merged out high and middle school principles/vice principles into just one.

Going to watch Zach and the Jackets tonight when they host Midway tonight. Really hope he has a great game and they get the W. Can't wait to see this kid in Orange!

EDIT: Coalfield 13 Midway 0 with 4 minutes in the half

Coalfield 34 Midway 0 Final

Zach had a great game tonight. Heard his name ALOT ( not sure how many tackles but quite a bit) and had a nice sack. On offense he got a great push every time and really opened up some nice lanes. He also kept his composure in what turned to be an ugly game. Midway lost composure and I bet they had over 100 yards in penalties. The scary thing is, this kid still has another year of growing at Coalfield! Kid is good!

No problem man. I'm going back next week to watch them take on South Pittsburg, so i will have more updates on him next week. I'm real good friends with some of his family and it's real nice to have a local kid with the talent he has. I think he will have a great career at Tennessee.

Thanks.. See if you can get an idea of his squat and bench levels, and how quickly he gets back in pass pro.

Went and watched Zach in action again tonight. Boy, what an ugly game! South Pittsburgh has some of the most classless, inconsiderate, ignorant fans I've ever seen in my life! From cheering when Coalfield players got hurt, to cussing Coalfield players, etc. It was worse than seeing some of the comments here on Volnation or other boards.

Anywho, Zach had a good game tonight. He forced a fumble near the goalline just before South Pittsburgh scored. Zach definitely plays with a motor. He doesn't give up on a play. One thing I have noticed is he does stand up alot and not get lower than his opposition. That is something that can be corrected with coaching. He has that natural size and is made to play football. It was a shame that Coalfield had to go out like they did. As classless as South Pitt's players and fans were, I hope that Union City doesn't let off the gas and pummels them.

Zach on offense looks pretty solid. He didn't get much help from his other fellow lineman tonight, as South Pittsburgh made a living staying in the backfield tonight. Zach looks pretty solid technique wise in pass blocking and run blocking, he just has to start getting a bit lower. He could really use his strength and size much more efficiently if he did. He is a monster who just needs a bit of fine tuning IMO.

Was at the game and he is a HUGE Kid and has good feet, but never really drove the S.Pitt smaller lineman off the ball. Does have a motor on defense and made some nice plays. Will be nice to see how he continues to develop, certainly has the size. As for the fans both side where horrible, Coalfield fans on the side line constantly threatening the S.Pitt players and yelling racial slurs. Sorry but this has no place in high school sports. Tonight came down to the fact that S.Pitt was just faster than Coalfield.

Racial slurs at coalfield vs south Pitt... Not surprised.

I didn't catch the racial slurs, but I'm not saying it didn't happen. Every fanbase has those bad apples. It just seemed like South Pitt's fans seemed more disrespectful. Cheering when Coalfield players got hurt. These are young kids for pete's sake! As far as the players go, South Pitt seemed to be targeting players. I know of one instance where they had 5 personal foul penalties on one Coalfield drive alone!

As for Zach's abilities, he has the potential to become an outstanding player, if he keeps his head in it and possesses a good work ethic.

I agree with the speed differential. It was quite obvious that South Pitt had far more speed and this is ultimately why they took this game. South Pitt gave Coalfield opportunities with 4 turnovers iirc. It was just an ugly game all around.

The 3 personal fouls, I would say two were deserving. The late hit and the kid taunting. Other one was a DB slamming a WR during the play, and a pass interference.

There was a couple of them I couldn't see from my vantage point. Either way it was just a game full of stuff not needed in high school sports.

did you talk to Coalfield Herman?

zach stewart showed enough promise to earn his first scholarship offer from tennessee almost nine months ago, and he believes he has continued to improve since then.

He now has some hardware to prove it.
The three-star junior offensive lineman from coalfield (tenn.) high school, who has been committed to the vols since april, won tennessee’s class a mr. Football lineman award monday, and he said he “really stepped up my game offensively” this season.

I mean, i became much more physical on the offensive line, and part of that was because of the offense we switched to at coalfield,” said stewart, who’s ranked by 247sports as the no. 11 overall prospect from the state of tennessee in the 2015 class. “we switched to downhill running, and i think that helped me a lot.”

but he also has continued to keep a close eye on his future team over the past several months, attending all but two of the vols’ home games this season, and he said his recent trips to knoxville have been even “more exciting."
“you know you’re part of it now. You’re part of that family,” he said. “before you were on the outside looking in, hoping to get that offer, and i went in the first two or three times just hoping to get an offer. And once i got it, i mean, they really welcomed you with open arms like family, and that’s one of the biggest reasons i committed.”

on the direct the program is headed.

“those guys played really hard,” he said. “and that’s nothing against the players up there now, but those are not coach jones’ guys to run his offense with. The way he got those guys to play hard and the way the guys bought into what he was doing, if we’ll do that these next few years with the talent they’ve got coming in, in 2014 and we continue to develop this 2015 class, it’ll be a great, great deal for tennessee.”

stewart said he’s also “working real hard on dylan jackson and brant mitchell” — two other knoxville-area standouts who hold offers from tennessee — trying to convince them to join him in playing for the vols, and he has gotten to know a few of tennessee’s other current commitments for the 2015 class.
“every time we’re at ut we talk — me and (jones) and andrew butcher. I’m pretty tight with them. And then, of course, preston williams, cecil cherry, i talk to all of them, too — great guys,” stewart said.
“looking forward to building that class.”
