'15 TN DT/OL Zach Stewart (UT Signee 2/4/15)

Mike Farrell put up a video analysis of Stewart from the Rivals Charlotte camp and he had some very positive things to say. Said he was "very impressed". Also said "He's a massive strong kid. I love the way he continually rode guys out of the play. He consistently was physical. Tennessee's getting a good guard here, a kid I really like."

Sounds like he might get bumped to a 4star, IMO.

I'm so impressed our recruits have decided to do the camp circuit to improve not only their competitive ability but their stock in the eyes of the guys who rate them. They care about the way this class looks on paper too. The relationships they can build and the guys they can recruit there are invaluable as well. I'm very happy for Zach, this is great.

I was just thinking about our needs at OL and had a question about ZStew. Are we fr sure that he's going to play OG? He seems to have the frame to potentially back up or compete with Thomas (a player we all assumed would play inside for quite sometime) at RT.

Zach is tailor made for an interior position on the OL. If we land who we are suppose to land, Zach won't need to play a Tackle position.

LT: Richmond
LG: Harrell
C: Stewart
RG: Jones
RT: Clark

I guess what I meant my question to be is this: do we know the coaches see Zach as an OG?

Until Thomas enrolled we all thought he was an interior guy (though Thomas was admittedly more athletic).

I don't exactly "know" for sure if they do. But I think it makes the most sense. He's built for it. I think Zach is athletic enough to be a good pulling Guard.

I think Coleman Thomas is REALLY athletic for his size. 6'6 and right at 300 lbs. Pretty sure he played basketball and baseball also. But Coleman really benefited of the uncertainty at RT. Kerbyson is not made for the Tackle position. He's not a natural bender. I think he really surprised the coaches with his development at RG.

And we had no one else to really fill that void. So I think the coaches threw Coleman out there to experiment and see how he would hold up. And he has impressed for a young guy.

In a perfect world, Stewart is an interior guy. He's a mauler and he has that "I'm going to drive your ass into the ground" disposition that we've been missing.

He and Jack Jones both have that disposition. Jones is a finisher. If there's one thing you cannot doubt about those two, it's definitely tenacity.

I think Stewart fits best at OG also, I was just toying around with the idea in my head in case we miss out on one of Clark or Richmond at OT. If we can get those two in addition to Jones and Stewart, I think we'll be set at OL for this class personally. Especially if the coaches move Robertson or Mosely inside.

The wildcard to me is Dylan Jackson. If the coaches really try to turn him into an OT, I think he could be great...in three years. Of course, I think he could be great at SDE also so who knows.

I think Stewart is definitely getting a 4th star next update on Rivals. After what Farrell said about him in his video breakdown and Woody was in a thread on VQ yesterday saying good things about him...

Zach had a very good camp. I was really impressed with him, especially as a guard.

Zach is a Guard all the way IMO and a damn good one.

This. Guard all the way. I've been saying it for almost a year. He's incredibly underrated. Despite the competition if you watch his film and you see the incredibly quick feet for a kid of his size and strength. Can't teach that.

Not saying we shouldnt take him cause I'm glad to have him but are we his only offer?

He plays in 1A in a small town in East TN, he committed to UT as a sophomore and up until this rivals camp at charlotte he hasn't had much exposure anywhere other than UT and East TN. Plus, his blood is orange and once UT offered it was over. So, if any other schools do like him as a prospect they probably know it's a waste of time to recruit him. Same as it was for Austin Sanders.

Thank Ron!

im with ya MH....Zach is 320lbs country strong and hes a finisher.underrated athleticism. Kid flattens people. Good to see UT getting some nasty guys like Wiesman and Stewart to build that interior.

I want to see him put the pads on in some of these camps. He plays 1a football so he is going up against these 200- 225 defensive lineman if that in 1a football. I know he does great in camps but that's with no pads on most of the time. He is strong and is a great athlete, I actually coached against him when he played middle school basketball and he moved really well then for his size. I'm just a little suspect of the inferior competition he goes up against in single a football.

I absolutely love how Stewart plays. We're going to remember him by the time he's done.

All Stewart can do is dominate they guy they put in front of him. He does that almost all the time. Stewart and Jones will start after they redshirt next to Raulerson.

Zach Stewart (Coalfield, 6-5, 317, right tackle): Stewart is a solid Tennessee verbal commitment and has been since April 2013. He’s a Class A Mr. Football winner, and has proven himself SEC worthy on the field and at spring/summer camps. His Hudl: Zach Stewart - Hudl.

I don't see them redshirting. We need quality depth on the line ASAP.
