Hey Ladies. ..
This guy is worth a scholarship.
A bad snap could cost you a natty.
I agree with you SteelerVol. I have been saying this on here since September. After Oklahoma snuck in at the end of recruiting last year and gave Horky our walkon LS, whom was actually rated higher than Lovingood I believe, a scholly. I do not want to lose to Bama because a snap goes over the punter's head. Both these kids were from here in Tennessee as well. Just so everyone knows, I have no personal ties or interest in this either, I just want what is best for the VOLS.
I believe it's like a 3 scholarship penalty for everyone we take over the limit.
This is a persistent myth that's been around for a while but no such penalty exists; you either abide by the rule or you prepare to meet with the NCAA Committee on Infractions.
That said, such an act of willful noncompliance would land a program in extremely hot water with both the SEC & the NCAA. Flagrantly flouting this rule would likely lead to a charge beyond "failure to monitor." In addition, NLIs over the limit (probably the last one(s) faxed in) would almost certainly be declared null & void.
Fortunately, we won't see that scenario play out at UT.
I don't recall us ever having LS issues and there are a couple others on the roster.My thought is you don't blue or greyshirt Lovingood because an injury to Giampapa may happen. If his scholarship is pushed to 2016 status then we wouldn't have depth. Something which you don't want to gamble with, especially given our track record with injuries.
Correct. Besides Giampapa;
Henry a redshirt Senior & Bradshaw a redshirt Freshman
but I don't know enough to say how important this particular Legacy Longsnapper Lovingood is to this class.
I'm pretty sure someone posted some stuff on it a while back and it is a set penalty of 3.
I've seen this supposed penalty bandied about over the past 2 years and have asked for evidence that it actually exists, but I haven't seen it yet.
I researched this pretty heavily last year and found no mention of it in the NCAA or SEC manuals and I've gone through both w/ a fine-toothed comb. I've also found no other references to it elsewhere online so while I'm incredulous this "chupacabra" is real, I'd love to see it if someone can point it out to me!
