'15 TN RB Ke'Shawn Vaughn

You do realize Vaughn is now a 4* on both 247 and Rivals, right? He must have really showed out this season.

If we can swing it, I'd take him and let Reid decide whether to stay committed or not. I thought we were going to take 3 RB's in this class before Scott transferred. With no Paulk, either, we have no depth at all behind Hurd & AK.

A. It doesn't work like that.

B. A kid that has major D1 offers is not going to walk on anywhere.

So you'd be ok with your family paying 20-30k for a project?

Lol, just stop.

First off, that was not my original question. I was asking if Tn was recruiting him at all, such as telling him if numbers work out (not getting a certain Rb), that he would be offered. I of course did not think it through with release contract part (if walk on would not need of course), just point that if I was could easily pay for 1 or 2 years so son could play for his dream school and earn a scholarship, I would.

He has been quiet since he canceled his visit to Ohio St. His stock has been rising with ranking bumps on recruiting sites, great play in the Tn All Star game and other honors. He is on cloud 9. We are recruiting him but I don't know how hard. He will take some visit and commit before NSD. He has already visited Purdue and Louisville and nothing else scheduled.

Just a summary of what I have seen on the Interwebs.

Yeah, but when I watch him and Reid play, I see almost no difference in their size, speed and style of play.

Vaughn has just gotten more recognition lately, from the services, whereas Reid hasn't.

Don't disagree that he would be a good pickup for us at all, the problem I see is that he said in a recent interview that he has not heard from UT coaches. The way this staff recruits, to me that signals we either feel good about our chances with others, OR he is not even a fallback option if we whiff on others.

No need for you to Fify. I was referring to the fact that no returning scholarship RB's will be on the roster, beyond Hurd. That's why we are using THIS CLASS to address that lack of depth. A class AK is part of. Geesh.

Chill my Vol brother. I was just making the point that AK is not your typical incoming freshman. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year.

I don't know what relationship he has with the coaches. Heard that as well but I think that was early Dec. Nothing much since he stated that “I’m still kind of weighing everybody,” Dec 17th.

The recruitment of this kid (I guess I'm old enough to call this young man a kid) became fluid just before the dead period. I don't doubt that if the coaching staff put in the effort, we could beat out Purdue for his services.

Just recruiting information withdraw.

So you say he is a pretty darn good back but slow, right? I see his skill set translating well to the Vol's backfield. Look at our projected #1 and #2 skill set for next year. I mean really![/QU

Mick never said slow I just said his skill set translates better to the BIG10

Since Reid has now parted ways with UT, it will interesting to see if we try to establish something with him. I like him a lot, all the swamis seem to think its Love or Kelly. I can't see us taking more than one more RB in this class.

Kelly did an interview with 247 and really seems to like TN. He says we are the only school in his group of favorites that is recruiting him at RB, all others are as an athlete. He has no preference on position and is not put off by the distance

Wow! We parted ways with Reid? Hadn't seen that yet.

I see his skills translating well for us. Sorry to put words in your mouth.:)

Not trying to be a d*ck but when he says he hasn't heard from the coaches what makes you believe we are going after him? IMO love or another back will be a Vol before Vaughn

Not saying we are going after him just that I think he would be a good fit for us.

Some of you want this guy over Love????
Either one, IMHO, but I do like Love's tape a bit better. His speed sets him apart, but Vaughn has come on strong, lately, and I think has the frame to develop in a Melvin Gordon type of player. Not a scat back. Not your classic power back, either. But somewhere in between.

He's not there yet, but a few years in the S&C program here, and he'd look like Rajion Neal or Montario Hardesty.
