'15 TN WR Van Jefferson

Nothing is official yet but he's been talking up Ole Piss and Oklahoma. We had a discussion tonight and he said Oklahoma has no qb and i said Van neither does Ole Miss. He just looked like a lost puppy. Its amazing the mess this kid has to experience through his recruitment. UT @ heart but momma just can't let bigons be bigons and allow the kid to do what he has felt from the very beginning. Dad is super salty though. Kid is like my lil brother and it hurts to see him in this kinda battle

No disrespect but if wanted to come to UT he would. I could see not going against mom's wishes if he were raised in a single parent home, poverty, etc... But he has both parents and family is certainly not poor. I wish him noting but the best and it's probably best for all involved he went elsewhere.

If he's not coming here I have no problem with Oklahoma or Ole Miss. Don't convince him to look harder at Florida de.

Sometimes we don't understand things and it's better to not comment. He wanted to come mom wasn't having it period end of discussion. He will do well regardless. Very polished wr who will contribute early.

Really wanted to see him in Orange. IMO a possession receiver with exceptional hands. Something we could seriously use on 3rd downs.

sounds like he needs to cut the cord.

You're correct, sometimes it's best to let it go to not stir up any more trouble. Van will do well no matter what school he attends.

In you previous post you mentioned that "Dad is super salty." Was he upset about him not being able to go to UT?

Georgia boards are saying that Van has grade problems (which is why he couldn't EE), but that Ole Miss was willing to overlook them and admit him anyway.

The Georgia guys are also doing the "he wasn't that good" anyway routine whenever a prospect goes elsewhere.

If he liked 2-3 of his choices and mom was opposed to just 1 of them, IMO he's doing the smart thing to keep mama happy.

Tennessee, sounds like, was his number 1 though. Not a 1a, 1b, 1c type thing. Mama is meddling.

I have no agenda with this question but do you have kids?

I can see that, but there comes a time in a man's life when he needs to tell mom to mind her own business, before she tries to dictate everything.

3 of them. Yes, I would advise them as I see fit. If I had a serious problem with something, I would let them know it. I'm not going to make the decision for them, but I would be willing to bet they listen to my advice.

He actually works with these kids and knows them. You're an ole miss fan on a rival board. I think we will go with his info, thx!

Lol. If momma wanted him at Tennessee and he didn't want to we'd be all over him saying mom knows best.

Exactly. Adoree Jackson's recruitment is prime example. Word was his folks favored UT (I never bought it), and this board was going crazy saying he should listen to his parents as "they know best" .

That's what any fan base would do though. We, as a fanbase, want the best for our school. Is it hypocritical? Yes. Is it expected? Yes.

Dewayne Hendrix listened to his mama instead of following his heart to Mizzou. I'm assuming much here but a kid has to make this choice or he won't be totally invested.

Adoree may have hated Knoxville.

I know Hendrix really liked Mizzou as well, but don't really recall the details about how his parents felt about UT vs Mizzou.

Every case is different. Many if not most parents should be heavily involved. Parents a lot times do know best.

As to Hendrix, if he'd have gone to Mizzou, he'd be wondering who his position coach and d coordinator was going to be right now.

Haven't you heard? Our entire coaching staff is going to CMU so it's a moot point! Haha! :)
