'15 TN WR Van Jefferson

Excerpt from Barton Simmons highlights of The Opening's Team Fly Rush:

Offensive identity

Precision pass catchers
To a man, every receiver on the Fly Rush roster is a technician when it comes to getting open. Trent Irwin and Van Jefferson may in fact be the two best route-runners in the country. DaMarkus Lodge and Lawrence Cager are two of the more polished big receivers out there as well. At the tight end position, Aliz'e Jones has arguably the nation's top pass-catching skill set. This team is a quarterback’s dream.

I think either will fill in nicely with Williams. Cain't wait for Williams to arrive in January.

I remember this one guy who was pretty slow too but ran great routes. He was pretty good. Can't remember the name for the life of me.

...oh yea it's Jerry Rice

I don't know about the speed or route running of Rice but I noticed that he was always where the ball came down...and he somehow seemed to catch most all of them. He was probably a 2* :)

SIAP.

Three schools at top of Van Jefferson's list

"As of right now I'm just looking at pretty much three schools and that's Georgia, Tennessee and Ohio State," Jefferson said. "Those are probably my three right now that I've narrowed it down to. Schools I'm still looking at probably would be Ole Miss, Florida and Michigan State."

"I've been to all three of them," Jefferson said. "I love Tennessee a lot, I love Georgia, I love Ohio State so all three of them are pretty good."

"It's very hard," Jefferson said. "You get all these offers and you like all the schools, and they treat you very well on the visits. You build relationships with the coaches throughout the visits. But you've got to pick the school that's going to help you succeed the most."

I covet receivers that can actually run routes. Our last few "elite" receivers were more athletes than reliable targets. Thankfully we now have guys that combine athletic ability with a desire to actually play the position in North, Malone, Pearson, and hopefully this kid.
