'15 TN WR Van Jefferson

We're not passing on committable 4-5 star talent, know that! If we are in on game changing studs CBJ will cull starting with Lovinggood. I like the kid but I have never seen a scholly given to a long snapper especially when Helm can do it blindfolded.

Think of it this way..."No thanks TG. Even though you threw for 6TDs and 2 miles today, we think a 2 star long snapper is more valuable to our success".

Yeah...Hell no!!!

They did say no thanks TG. They took Jennings and Dormady.

We wanted Van. I was saying I wonder if staff felt it was going this way and decided to go ahead and take an extra OL instead.

This one is done - and he is headed to Georgia. I wish him well and would advise anyone else planning on making an announcement not to leak it to the press if you want there to be any suspense when you announce.

I think he didn't like
our depth chart.

If I was a WR, I would not go vols. we are stacked, especially with Preston coming

Special teams are just as important as other facets of the game. Once a snap is misplaced, you will be the main one crying about firing the special teams coach.

It seems like every time we hear about a recruit whom we thought had us as their leader goes somewhere else, people automatically say we passed on them. This isn't Alabama where one can pass on highly talented guys all of the time. We didn't pass on Van. If he doesn't come here it just means he chose another school.

I went back a few pages and I dont see anyone saying we passed on this kid. Van letting the coaches know he is not coming would also allow the coaches to take VB and go a different direction. If someone did say we passed, I missed it and I am wrong.

still not concerned. I would guess our staff has concentrated on linemen, cbs and lbs. WR is just fine. Sometimes its just a depth chart thing. Maybe if Van was coming in in a different year we would be all over him. Best of luck to the guy, moving on...

Why does there always have to be one like you? Talking down to the board like you are some expert on board etiquette. No one on here has put the kid down. There always has to be one, huh?:ermm:

Why does there have to be 10 like you?

Talking down to a board. I don't see it. (Spin it how you want) Telling guys to wish the kid the best instead of being ugly .... I see that.

Funny that UT's best receiver commit is from Georgia and Georgia's best is from Tennessee.

This is only based on filling needs. If UT isn't loaded deep at WR and already have PW commit, then VJ is heavily recruited and likely signed by the large orange. Example of bad timing. But great to see SEC quality state talent on the rise.

I am thinking UGA as well...Honestly we already have the best WR in the country committed to us IMO so if it is UGA I wish him well...We are seriously loaded at WR for years to come.

Yesterday, I watched an interview in which his eyes sparkled when he talked about Tennessee and OSU. He did mention UGA, but not with the same sparkle. Since then, everyone has jumped on the UGA wagon, so maybe something happened in the last 24 hours. Could be Tennessee and OSU have other positions of need. Either way, he seems to be a good kid and an excellent WR. Hope he does well unless he plays against my VOLS.

The check just cleared..

We lose no one after this season while adding Preston Williams, who is the type of talent at WR that doesn't come around every year. Our 2015 WR unit is just nasty with or without Jefferson

North (Jr.)
Malone (So.)
Pig (Sr.)
Pearson (Sr.)
J.Smith (Jr.)
Croom (Jr.)
Williams (Fr.)
Wharton (So.)
Johnson (Sr.)
Jenkins (So.)

I do not think Van Jefferson is scared of our depth chart at WR. He has a great example of what hard work and dedication, coupled with DNA, can accomplish.......his Dad. Van going anywhere other than UT, IF he does,.....sucks. Really want him in this class. We need at least a couple of WR every class. With that being said, I understand we have other more immediate needs. But anyone saying he isn't a take....c'mon man! Or implying that he is intimidated by our depth chart. Why would he be? Lots of potential but not much production.

North(Jr) = Stud
Malone(Soph) = Stud (we think)
Pig(Sr) = Good player
Pearson(Sr) = Potential Stud
J. Smith(jr) = ??? Disappointing last season (playing thru injury)
Croom(Jr) = Lots of hype, not much production
Williams(Fr) = Stud (we think)
Wharton(So) = High hopes
Jenkins(So) = unknown
Johnson(Sr) = below average

If North balls out the next two seasons he may even skip his Senior year and move on to the league.

Hey if he does come to us we can always go 5 wide lol...Dormandy throwing to those guys would be a lethal combo in the future.

I for one am always glad for any kid that has their head on right and gets to play a sport for any school at any division level....IF he is the best in our home state and chooses a SEC East rival then congrats to you and I hope you never have one reception when you face the Vols....no harm in that :dunno:

Also being stacked with elite WR talent means early NFL draft departures....the kid would get to play....but Richt is selling him on the lather of course.

Best of luck to him at Georgia. I would have loved him to come here. I don't think there is any possibility at all that we passed on him.

Did I miss where he committed? Like, his actual announcement? Or is this just speculation mixed with speculation from reputable sources?

Not mad at the kid one bit if he picks some one else. He handled his recruitment like an adult. He did was not a drama queen or did anything for attention he did it the right way hope he picks ut doubt it but good look where ever he goes. If he picks uga can't wait for Todd Kelly to meet him over the middle.
