'15 TN WR Van Jefferson

Nervous about his torn meniscus he was playing through.

People crucified Smith and rarely said a word about all of Hunter's drops after he came back from the knee. Wish folks would understand that a receiver's knees are crucial for getting out of their cut and into position to make the catch. If they feel a pain, it will affect catching the ball. Both were playing cautiously, which reduces focus on the ball.

We have 2 proven WR on this roster: Pig and North. One won't be here next year. Saying our roster is better at this point is based on nothing but star numbers. No one from the '12 class outside of Pig has done a damn thing, 2013 class lost our 2nd highest rated already in Harris, Josh Smith can't catch a cold naked in a snowstorm, etc. Richt and UGA have a proven system on the field that has managed to yield the SEC's two most prolific passers of all time. WR's know exactly what they're getting going there.

Cannot be serious with this post. Cannot. If Pig doesn't fumble UGA was toast to us last season. Then Butch adds Malone and Pearson - a HS 5* and a top juco WR, to go with an improved Croom and Smith. Really? That's not even talking about Wharton, Jenkins, Johnson, DY, etc.

I see what all that depth and stability has done for Richt and company. Who played for the east in SECCG last season with prolific Murray at the throttle? Uh-huh, not UGA.

we're loaded at WR going forward. wish the young man good luck except when he plays the Vols. it's that simple. He would be coming in with North, malone, Croom, Pearson, Smith, and Preston Williams...no way he makes a splash in season one. congrats mr. jefferson.

No true. People got all over hunter for all his drops. But I do agree that people are way too hard on Smith, but it's just the nature of the beast. He has a ton of talent and is going to be a great player here. He reminds me a lot of Zach Rogers...And not just because they were the only 2 white receivers we've had in the past decade. Rogers ended up being one of our most reliable players in the end. I hope we'll be able to say the same about Josh Smith one day

Agreed.Think those drops will lite a fire for him.

What??? Malone, Pearson, North, Howard... These guys are proven. Jefferson is unproven as well as their other 3 verbal commits. Not sure where you are coming from in regards to proven WR's. QB's, we will see how it plays out.

How many catches do Malone and Von have?

The morons saying Van was scared of competiton can't be serious? UGA has brought in as many if not more WR than us the last 3 classes (this one included). I don't know why he chose UGA but I doubt it's due to competiton. I personally wish Butch would've pushed harder for him and wish Van would've chosen us. I hate turning away elite talent especially in-state, even if he's only been here a year.

Because I wish we had gotten Van and not be content with our WR situation my fandom is questioned? Solid logic.

When you have North, Malone, and Williams basically playing the same position as Jefferson would I don't think our WR situation is nearly as thin as some other positions.

Looks like Van kinda said it himself...

“UT’s a family environment,” he said. “I love coach (Butch) Jones, I respect him and (wide receivers coach Zach) Azzanni a lot. The reason I didn’t go there is they have a lot of receivers right now. I know I can come in and compete anywhere. I’m not afraid of that. But I had to do something that was best for me.”

We will not get everyone we want. As long as we win more of these little skirmishes for recruits than we lose we will be ok. Both teams have a lot of receiver talent but he did mention ours as a bit of a concern. I do agree with the instate premise but this is not a true homegrown Tennessean.

Reverse boom on this one.

Congrats to Van on getting a scholarship to play college football at a high level. I just hope he's a no-show when we play him.

He flat out said the reason he didn't go to UT is because of all these receivers.

He also flat out said I know I can come compete anywhere, I'm not afraid of that. Are you ignoring that sentence in the quote that you posted? As Bowl said he contradicted himself.
