'15 TN WR Van Jefferson

Guess you may have missed it the first time. You won't win this one , objectively:
SEC position rankings: WR/TE SEC position rankings: Wide receivers and tight ends - ESPN
*Also check and compare recruiting rankings at WR for this year's class.

Let's be objective if we're going to debate.:hi:

Being objective means finding an article that truly rates WRs/TEs and doesn't mark off points for fielding a new offensive line. The guy that wrote the piece may as well said he was ranking offenses by including hypothetical O-line and QB play. But what can you expect from ESPN.

With that quote that Van gave maybe Butch decided to go with another position over receiver. I don't mean that as Van isn't good or anything because I believe he is but if you read the quote it doesn't make sense."I love the coaches but they have a lot of receivers". Sounds like maybe Butch said that we are going in a different direction. JMO

Cannot be serious with this post. Cannot. If Pig doesn't fumble UGA was toast to us last season. Then Butch adds Malone and Pearson - a HS 5* and a top juco WR, to go with an improved Croom and Smith. Really? That's not even talking about Wharton, Jenkins, Johnson, DY, etc.

I see what all that depth and stability has done for Richt and company. Who played for the east in SECCG last season with prolific Murray at the throttle? Uh-huh, not UGA.

Not a GA fan at all but they were killed by injuries last yr that hurt them. Marshall, Gurley, Murray just to name a few and many more starters. Again not defending GA cause I don't like them but Murray and Richt weren't why they didn't win the east.

I'm just having some fun with you guys but some of you are making this waaaay too easy. Underrated by who!?!? And you make the point that Eason, while committed, is a year-and-a-half away from signing, YET you reference a QB who hasn't even committed to UT?!?! Come on now! we got Jacob Park **** and Brice Ramsey ****, both underrated!

My point was, if you all are selling QBs who aren't even on campus, we can do the same.

Georgia fans have leaned hard on the injury excuse but injuries are a part of the game and nobody forced Malcolm Mitchell to hurt himself in celebration. If they were as good as their fans think they would have overcome that.

I'm a Dawg fan and even I'm tired of this thread.

I frequently lurk here at VolNation and enjoy reading updates on some of the same players we're recruiting but I think this will be my last visit to this thread.

I'm excited to have Van commit to the Dawgs and I have to say reading this thread I realized all college fans are the same when a coveted player commits to another school. A few reasonable posters wish a kid well and move on but most fans are the same everywhere. We didn't want the kid, he's afraid of competition, he's soft....blah, blah, blah.

Good sight you guys have here, lots of information...cheers!

You appear to have some hurt feelings...I don't think anybody said we didn't want him, just that we are doing well at WR and have some other needs and are getting tight on numbers. I also think everyone wishes him well except when our teams play and as far as his shying away from competition goes - that had a lot to do with his own conflicting comments. Glad you like it here and hope you will post again. I personally enjoy the perspective of rival fans. :hi:

Van is a good major college prospect that has been well schooled by his dad. He made a good choice in UGA. UT is crowded with quality, young WRs that he would have to work into the rotation over a couple of years. Good luck to him except when it comes to games with UT.

The UGA board does the same thing. They all do. This board just happens to be the best on the web and you know it. Freak runs a tight ship and the quality of information far exceeds rival sites.

By the way, I lurk on several other boards. I would never consider posting, though. I find it disrespectful and rude. Sure, opposing fans say ridiculous things but that's their prerogative. It's THEIR board.

How about you continue lurking and stop posting?

He said himself we had too many receivers.. Ok, that means we have more for him to be scared of... Don't worry, things will be much clearer for you pups next year. So, bye!

Taking his official visits?

"I would like to get the full official visit experience [at five schools]," Jefferson explained. "That's something that I'm going to talk to the coach about. I don't know yet, but we'll talk about it."

Because? Wr is the last thing we need right now.

But another defensive lineman, offensive lineman, or db would be a great addition to this class.

I bet they take another WR in this class if they can get a high caliber one. I'm surprised TN's WR's scared him away. If you look at the roster by 2016, which would be his sophomore year he'd likely be in the rotation and getting plenty of PT, especially if North leaves early which I think is a definite possibility.

Scared is the key word. I worry about recruits who are afraid of competition. Surely there must be more to it than that. GA also has a nice stable of receivers.

There has to be more to it because Georgia has like 5 WR's alone in this class depending on where Godwin plays (I think he's a WR). He's right there with Stanley IMO as their 3rd or 4th best WR in this class. Godwin and Chigbu are definitely better prospects IMO.

We certainly have the numbers at WR but after North, Pearson, Malone and Pig, there's a significant drop off in talent.

Thinking his dad had a big influence in Van going to UGA. UGA has 4 other WR commits this cycle so there's gonna be "too many WR's" wherever he goes.

Exactly my thoughts.

You don't think people on a Tennessee board are going to take that link seriously do you? Again, the poster you quoted was just referring back to Jefferson's own comments...I think he is a good player (if not a big need for us) and if he does end up taking all 5 OV's, I hope Tennessee is one of them. He wouldn't be the first player from middle Tenn to flip from Georgia.
