'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

Like Bray or not, he would've likely been very good with the proper coaching staff over him.

Not all players just 'respond' to proper coaching. He very well could have spent his career on the bench, suspended, or transferring if he played for a competent and disciplined coaching staff.

I think the run ended with Ainge. Crompton didn't really fare that well and then the Bray years to me will always be what could have been. He didn't have it between the ears to be a competent qb. Gunslinger is not usually a complement. He had physical tools. That's about it. Any semblance of a defense might have bailed him out of a losing season his junior year, but I don't think he could've stayed on a Butch Jones coached team.

Swain had some good comments today about QD.

Basically said Gruden didn't come in and work with him just for show, that with this dude being an EE, he has a really good shot to start. I know it would be great to RS him if possible. We need to QBs in the game with live game experience, but it's also exciting to think he may actually be that good, that fast.

Here's the game Coaches Jones and Bajakian attended.

KMYS CW35 :: Thursday Night Lights -

Watched the game. The kid has a huge arm and great presence on the field. He's very careless with the ball, though. I think that issue can be coached.

Physically, he looks like a college quarterback today. Big, strong, and surprisingly mobile.

On another note, the play by play crew was showing LOTS of love to UT and Butch Jones. The one dude even mentioned 'brick by brick'. Nice.

I'd rather get a big arm that needs to work on decision making than a game manager that you can't trust to throw a deep out.

The thing I like best about him is he seems to be an intelligent and well spoken young man.

Having a rifle arm and good feet doesn't hurt, either.

You think Bray wasn't a competent QB? Worley must be terrible by your logic.

Good arm, very good athleticism, and poise and leadership leading his team, this kid appears to be the real deal. I think his INTs this year are a bit overblown, in part because it appears he plays with the Lilliputian national team. One of the INTs I saw him throw was due to the reciever stopping in his route. There's only so much a QB can do with the talent around them. That wont be an issue when he gets on campus.

Chad Withrow on 104.5 in Nashville today said he thought QD could end up a 5*. Anyone else think that's a possibility?

Maybe on 247's ranking? Probably too far to go (and too much pride involved) to make that kind of jump on Rivals..

And he's had quite a few ints this year already. I'm not in that boat who cares like some of here, but Rivals probably won't bump someone that high if they don't have a near perfect senior season.

I'm pretty high on both Dormady and Jennings. That being said, has there been any talk of possibly adding a JUCO QB who is ready to start next season?

I wouldn't feel good about any true freshman starting, and handing the offense to Dobbs or Peterman is asking to stay in mediocracy. In my opinion we're just a good quarterback away from winning the East next season.

With QD being an EE, I doubt they would recruit a JUCO who may not arrive until July and would have a shorter time period to learn the system and the recievers.

VolunteerLane just posted an update about Former Clemson QB Chad Kelly who is in JUCO at EMCC.

I'm starting to wonder if WRU is the result of of that string of QBs you reference.

My personal opinion is OLine U allowed WRU/QBU/RBU to occur...when Coach Fulmer was OL Coach, the UT would even tell the opponents the play, dare the DL to stop it, then blow the opponents off the line. Our QBs had time to pick their reciever, the WRs could run their entire routes, the holes for the running backs were big enough for trucks...it was glorious! Fill the OL with Tennessee and north Georgia players and it will happen. :salute:

Have the OL Coach go out to farm country and pick his players. They are there. If they can throw hay bales or wrestle cattle, they will do just fine tossing dawgs, gators, bammers, etc. :)
