'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

Want this kid more than any other of the uncommitted QBs. Why? Because he is an established passing QB first and foremost.

Peyton was a more established passer than Tee Martin, but never beat Florida and never won a BCS title. Obv Peyton was the better QB, but when u have a gifted ath at QB the defense is spread even more thin trying to cover each facet of the opposing teams offense. Nick Marshall will not be a successful NFL QB, but he is a nightmare to opposing SEC schools.

Depends on what you want I suppose Mr.Tux ole buddy ole pal.

Exactly how I feel. With the weapons on offense, I feel better with a passer back there. Able to move is a plus and this kid can, but an accurate arm is #1 IMO.

Yes, the switch from Peyton to Tee is what we needed to get over the hump. Couldn't have been any of the other 5 million variables.

Also, Tee rushed for 300 yards. I wouldn't even classify that as Dual THREAT. Dobbs rushed for 200 in 5 games.

How can u sit here and think that our coaches, who you trust to get the job done, cannot coach him up? He def has the arm strength to make the throws, he just needs proper coaching. But he also has intangibles that cannot be taught, and that Dormandy can not duplicate -- SPEED.

WHAT IF Gruden comes out and says that TG was the most accurate QB in camp? Would u still doubt this talent? JW

The coaches have been coaching Dobbs and Ferguson for 2 years now and neither have been able to take the job from Worley. Most on this board will tell you that Butcha could possibly take the job from Worley given the chance. I like the coaching staff and feel they are headed in the right direction. QB coaching is something I am still sitting back and waiting to see play out. Long way to go there IMO. With our WRs, TE's, and RB's, as I said I'd roll with Dormady as a better passer and see how it plays out. Change of pace more mobile QB? We already have that guy committed in Jennings. Let's see how he progresses once on campus.

Factoring in Jennings I see your argument. Why take two of the se type of QB? I think Jennings could be special also, I suppose we will see who commits first and how that changes things. Most other schools have a QB committed already also, so I wonder if the staff are selling TG that Jennings will be at another position? Gibson loves K Dunbar so we always have her in our back pocket recruiting for us. Who knows maybe well take 3?

Only way I'm a coach and accept a "silent" commitment from TG is if he 100% shuts his recruitment down. He likes the spotlight way too much to risk him sticking through NSD JMO.

This would be my fear as well. I think butch would have to be OK with it. If I was butch I'd say OK but no visits to auburn or mia. I know this could hurt in the long run. But it also prevents him from going to our biggest threats IMO.

I'd flat out say no visits period if he wanted to commit. QB more so than other positions is a lead by example. You want to be the QB at Tennessee, lead by example and help recruit/fill out the class.

I like that the best but Gibson is the type of kid that would want a little excitement in his commitment . My way still let's him get some type of excitement.

So you would let him visit Ohio State? Gutsy move IMO IF you really want him in Orange.

Didn't Peyton wait to commit until late January? I'm sure he was taking visits to Ole Miss and a bunch of other places. Not saying TG is Peyton but when a kid is really talented, you stay on them all the way. Can't be scared of kids taking visits because most of them are going to take visits whether you like it or not. If you don't have guts, then you shouldn't be an SEC football coach (ex. Dooley)...

That may explain why I'm not and SEC football coach. :)

Yea I do understand the Ohio state part. But I believe Gibson when he says Ohio state is not high on his list.

TG has never been to OSU and yet he had them in his top 3 until just recently. He has still not visited them and they are still in his top 7. An OSU visit IMO could shake things up a bit. My guess is Urbz was selling TG on being "the man" at QB for them this year. They took Burrows and TG seemed to be put off. All his other options are taking 2 QBs as well. He visits OSU and IMO they are back in it.

I think we will know more about our QB sitch after the camp. Just sayin'.

NOBODY knows what a kid will do once on campus. Many great players peaked in HS and couldn't get it done in college. No matter how great the Coach's are. You just never know if his head is on straight, if once he gets away from home if they can handle it, if a girl has them screwed in the head. Just never know.

This is always my problem with Texas qbs. Most kids in Texas are at or near there peak as a qb in Texas .

Totally different times...back when Eric Zeier going EE was newsworthy...heck, even 5 years ago, waiting til NSD was almost expected...most kids never get that chance to announce anything newsworthy in front of a live camera...before or after...:hi:
