'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

Manning never beat Florida because he tried to carry the team on his back by himself and he did not have the defense that Tee Martin had. Manning actually became a better passer after he played in the NFL, if that is possible.

Back to our current situation….we have several elite level WRs who came to UT because Butch Jones planned to get the ball into their playmaking hands. How does he accomplish that? He recruits accurate passers who can throw the ball downfield well and has a bit of athleticism. What he can't afford to do is recruit guys who are great runners, but are poor to average passers. That is a quick recipe to failure in recruiting at the WR/playmaker position.

Spot on! Subpar passers don't cut it in the SEC. Receivers will become frustrated if we are not able to execute an excellent passing game.

Yeah but Peyton's career HS completion % was 59%. Which according to some (not naming any names) would indicate a not so accurate passer in HS. Also according to some HS QBs cannot improve so there is that too.

"If Peyton Manning was a HS SR this year".

I used his SR stats as that is what was mentioned.

College QBs can at times improve. Just a matter of are they willing to do the work. You can usually tell which ones will do the work and which ones might be say, questionable. A lot of factors go into determining which is which.

If u think my Texas qb situation is insane I would love for u to go to rivals and look up Texas qbs from the past four years. Most are bust and some were great but not much in between

I've rehashed that exact same thought many many times in this thread but some just don't want to believe. As the conductor of the Dormady train I give you a late welcome aboard.

Also I laugh at anyone that uses Tee as an example for why we need Gibson or a DT QB. I also call those people racist but that's another story for another day.

The biggest issue I have with the "we need TG" argument is that we already have about the exact same skillset in Jennings already committed.

We agree on Dormady. However, you might want to look at page 2 of this thread. I hopped on the Dornady train a few minutes before you did. It is a nice train with lots of room.

Yeah, if it wasn't for Jennings I'd be all over TG. I've stated this many times before now in agreement with you. We don't need two projects, and personally I like Jennings more anyway. He has shown a greater desire to better his game.

Leb was the first to mention it- I wasn't saying that I supported him before you. What I was saying though was that while the legions of doubters were swarming around I was flying the banner high. I'm pretty sure over the course of two pages I had nearly a quarter of the posts.

I don't think I've ever been first at anything on this board.

I hope our biggest recruiting problem this year is that Dormady, Francois, and Gibson all want to come compete with Jennings for the QB in this class. I think Butch could sort it out.

I've seen this posted about TG a few times today. Where did this "Gibson isn't that hard of a worker" narrative come from?

Bits and pieces of information coming out throughout his recruitment IMO. Swain and Barton Simmons were discussing the QBs on UTs board the other day and both said there were a lot of questions from a lot of people about just how much TG wanted to play QB and how hard he would be willing to work to succeed there in college. They continued to point out where he chose to just move to WR at camps vs competing to stay at QB. Most think the kid has a high ceiling, it's just a matter of will he focus and put in the work to get there.

Fair enough.

We are all onboard and that is what matters. I was merely teasing.

With how much TG loves the media of he was busting his ass like Jennings is then we would know. Have you read anything on him putting in the time though? I haven't seen these articles at least. All I've seen is him getting moved to WR at a camp because he still has so much growing to do at his position.

He's gonna be throwing in front of Butch and Gruden this weekend so maybe that should count idk.

All kinds of fail. You have no idea what TG is working on. Just because no media is reporting anything means nothing. Continue the stupid hate though.

After you Bunky.

I don't hate any player we are after. If CBJ thinks Dormady is our QB, then I am behind him 100%. I trust our coaches and I defend the players they are recruiting and call out stupid things when I see them.

Per VQ, they said Dormady moving his UT visit date up was sort of a good thing. He's visited Bama and now UT. If he doesn't visit anywhere else after UT, his decision will be be between those 2 schools. VQ will have an update this evening. They expect him to do something pretty soon after this visit.

From the sound of things, it sounds as if TG could be out and QD in as the top target in UT QB recruiting.

No matter what happens I am all kinds of happy that we are at the top of the list with a few really good QB's with great upside. If it is Quinten, welcome aboard!

The issue is your interpretation of "stupid"...it seems to gravitate towards anything critical of Gibson...despite popular belief, that isn't a hero worship thread...if we have negative vibes about your guy...they'll be aired there...and there will be as much intellectual validity afforded them as any rainbow poem.
