'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

The coaches have been coaching Dobbs and Ferguson for 2 years now and neither have been able to take the job from Worley. Most on this board will tell you that Butcha could possibly take the job from Worley given the chance. I like the coaching staff and feel they are headed in the right direction. QB coaching is something I am still sitting back and waiting to see play out. Long way to go there IMO. With our WRs, TE's, and RB's, as I said I'd roll with Dormady as a better passer and see how it plays out. Change of pace more mobile QB? We already have that guy committed in Jennings. Let's see how he progresses once on campus.

Ummmm, they are coaching Worley as well.....

Checkin in on mobile and uh leb... Count me the 2 years butch as been coaching Dobbs... Explain that timeline for me...

If Peyton was a HS senior this year a couple posters on here would be haters on anyone pushing him instead of TG. Too slow, doesn't fit our system, pro-style pocket passer is so obsolete and old school, yada yada, yada.

Peyton was a more established passer than Tee Martin, but never beat Florida and never won a BCS title. Obv Peyton was the better QB, but when u have a gifted ath at QB the defense is spread even more thin trying to cover each facet of the opposing teams offense. Nick Marshall will not be a successful NFL QB, but he is a nightmare to opposing SEC schools.

Depends on what you want I suppose Mr.Tux ole buddy ole pal.

Manning never beat Florida because he tried to carry the team on his back by himself and he did not have the defense that Tee Martin had. Manning actually became a better passer after he played in the NFL, if that is possible.

Back to our current situation….we have several elite level WRs who came to UT because Butch Jones planned to get the ball into their playmaking hands. How does he accomplish that? He recruits accurate passers who can throw the ball downfield well and has a bit of athleticism. What he can't afford to do is recruit guys who are great runners, but are poor to average passers. That is a quick recipe to failure in recruiting at the WR/playmaker position.

How can u sit here and think that our coaches, who you trust to get the job done, cannot coach him up? He def has the arm strength to make the throws, he just needs proper coaching. But he also has intangibles that cannot be taught, and that Dormandy can not duplicate -- SPEED.

WHAT IF Gruden comes out and says that TG was the most accurate QB in camp? Would u still doubt this talent? JW

Great if you are running the triple option out of the wishbone.

Top level passing skills can not be taught. The player has to have the raw skills to improve upon to begin with. I do not see them in many of the dual threat QBs, who are really nothing more than running QBs who can lob the ball downfield every now and then.

This is your excuse for Manning not beating Florida, once? Seriously, you're going to go there?

1 year, 1 crack at it is all Tee needed to not lose one. Single. Game. Don't fool yourself.

^^^ This is full of fail bro. Again, since you're going to blame this and that then why don't we compare the Super Bowl, where a dual threat QB (who passes extremely well) beat our golden child (who had a defense of his own) down.. way down into the ground.

Please humor me more..

Seattle had a much better defense than Denver did.

Again Manning tried to carry the team on his back. That is a serious weakness that has hurt his success in the post season. Denver effectively took Manning out of the game by letting him take on more pressure to move the offense and score points.

I agree, Tee was way better than Manning. Football isn't a team game. Championships are won by one player

"He just tries to hard" is not a valid excuse. I vaguely understand where you're trying to come from but that isn't the reason that Peyton's Vols lost those big games and Tee's Vols won them. Peyton couldn't do it in 4, Tee did it in ONE.

Just stop, laugh about it a little, and carry on.

Tee did about as well as Manning in his own way. Stoerner took care of the rest. Let's not kid ourselves that the fumble did not change everything about that season along with FSU having to play an inexperienced back up QB in the big game.

The new game is played with a mobile or DT QB. It just is. Blame it on Steve Young with his two SB rings or on whoever. The position is evolving due to changes in the systems. I like Dormady because he brings something different than Jennings. I also like TG. Butch will figure it out.

They would also be ragging about his completion %

63.4% 2,703 Yards 39TD's is pretty strong. I think it would be acceptable this year. I mean we do need a better passer to go along with Jennings. :p

Yeah but Peyton's career HS completion % was 59%. Which according to some (not naming any names) would indicate a not so accurate passer in HS. Also according to some HS QBs cannot improve so there is that too.
