'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

BOL writer finally switched his crystal ball to UT for Dormady. Writing was on the wall of course.. but now its a done deal. Everyone agrees it is UT.

Congrats guys. Hope we either take no QB or get Waller. Tired of wasting schollies on QBs that will never make it.

Thanks Matt. Can't say I have any sympathy for the Tide.:salute:

And did you not notice that the coaching staff at UT offered and looks to have taken this kids commitment? I would sort of lean toward they know what they are looking for and may think they found it. I'd guess they have had QD run the ball some and see how fluid he is when tucking it and keeping it. I'd guess he showed them something that has them thinking he would not shy away from taking off with the ball. I'm sure QD has a good feel for his game and what he is capable of. If he did not think he could execute the offense, he would be headed to bama. JMO

So you are saying that Coaches never miss of the observations of a player? Certainly you are not suggesting that?

I do not and have never bought into your general theory. Even Nick Saban misses on player evaluations.

This a forum for discussion and inasmuch as Jones runs a version of a zone read option one would think that a dual threat qb would be better equipped to effectively run that system.

That may be why they took Jennings commitment.

Yet he has stated he wants a throw first, run second QB at a few press conferences and radio interviews

If Dormady is indeed the guy and TG goes elsewhere, should we be ok with Dobbs being the starting QB next year? I'm just not confident that he's the man for the job

But he didn't run a 4.4. And was a pocket passer first. Similar to Dormady...

thats rich.....

I bet you were not even aware that the kid rushed for over a 1000 yards in one season..... Thats a heck of lot more than Worley and Dobbs did last year - they combined for a whopping 245 yards.... That is not reflective of CBJ's offensive scheme.

Point is CBJ's offense is more effective when the QB actually effectively runs the zone read which presumes more "running" by the QB.

CBJ's QB rushing stats at Cinci:

2012 769

2011 757

2010 600

He was a freshman against the toughest defenses in the country. Give him a chance to progress a little

Then why would he state he wants a QB that passes first?

He was a TFR last year thrown to the wolves because of injuries. Let's give him a chance before we write him off. He'll have time to get better as the #2 behind Worley this year. Going into the 2015 season with 2+ years in the system, he will be just fine IMO.

250 yards rushing by your QB's is not any where CBJ wants to be in regards to his QB's rushing statistics.

Using him, no matter how good he is, is much better than ruining some freshman by using him his freshman season. No true freshman should start at QB.
