'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

This may have already been stated but this guy is a pro-style QB not read option - spread - dual threat QB....... so what gives.....

Dont we want the best dual threat guys to run CBJ's offense instead of pro-style QB?

Want the guy best able to complete a pass to the weapons at WR, hand off to the weapons at RB, pass to RBs and TEs, then run to keep defense honest...

FYI:

In 2012, 2011 and 2010, CBJ's QB's accounted for approximately 25% of the total offensive rushing yards for Cinci.

Last year, Worley and Dobbs accounted for only 10.8% of the rushing yards for Tennessee. And I do not think that anyone would say that the offense was effective or efficient last year.

We get it, you know stats are angry about one hell of great commitment. Keep beating the dead horse and the rest of us can celebrate a summer victory!

I'm willing to bet Butch doesn't want his QB getting 25% of the rushing yards or attempting that against SEC defenses. When you have highly rated RB's like Lane, Hurd, Scott and Paulk do you want our QB to be responsible for a quarter of our rushing yards? Hell No!

So u werent willing to take a chance of missing on someone signing with us 8 months from now, but ur willing to pass on that same player to have a chance at someone 1 yr and 8 months from now?

Taking 2 QBs in 2015 with losing Ferguson to me makes sense. I think 2016 QBs could buy into that thinking. Taking 3 in 2015 IMO would be a huge negative recruiting tool for anyone recruiting vs UT. AK has UT very high on his list today. He fits our system perfectly. Tennessee has offered (13) QBs so far in 2016. Looks to me like they would like to take one. Maybe it does not end up being Kendall, but taking Jennings/Dormady this year and 1 next year makes sense to me. Also consider if they tried to take TG late, maybe one of the committed guys walk. I like what we have now and with the coaches taking them, I think they do as well. IMO TG will drop UT from consideration shortly after he heads home.

Crazy scenario but, How confident would y'all feel about him sticking to him commitment if Gentry finds another home and Texas offers Dormady? I personaly don't think they offer Dormady with Gentry on board because, they have similar measurables. But if Gentry goes elsewhere, Texas would most likely offer Dormady. This is just a big"IF" question and more than likely won't happen. I like to contemplate possibly future scenarios like this and get other peoples opinions.

I don't see Gentry changing his mind. The only other school in his area is Oklahoma that could possibly get him to think.

I don't think either will leave their commitment.

BOOM!!! I'm pretty pumped bout this one. We have Jennings who is a really good athlete and who is growing at qb. We have QD who is a really good qb and will only get better. Remember those highlights are from his sophomore year...15 and 16 years old playing qb. When he is reevaluated this fall during his senior year his stock will really rise. And watching his film he's relying on his upper body on most of his throws he has that strong of an arm that he doesn't use his lower body as much. When he gets to the hill and I'm sure they talked about it this weekend he will step plant and throw thru those receivers. I'm pumped bout this kid I think he can be a really good qb for us but only time will tell. GBO and hello to all you Debbie Downers today!

I am saying what CBJ's offense scheme was before he came to UT based upon the statistics of his offense. The whole scheme works because of the "option" - it is supposed to exploit the defense by giving the qb more options and to work efficiently it must have an actual run threat with the QB. My question or critique is whether the kid will be a run threat considering he is a pro-style quarterback prospect.

Don't know what others saw and not an expert in football, but last year, I saw an offense that wants to throw first and then run second, with some QB runs sprinkled in. You can argue about Worley not keeping it all you want, but our staff does not want to run the QB 15 times a game. We just didn't have the personnel to execute it last year, and our entire team was running a new offense. It was a work in progress. I don't know why some think we need more "dual threat" QB's. As someone said, we don't run Auburn's system. We do run more of a pro style because we will pass first. JMO.

Dobbs was a pro style QB also and had some nice runs. He doesn't need a QB running down the field like AU does. Just a guy that you have to atleast respect that will keep it. I don't know what his running ability is but the coach's liked him a lot as did Gruden so that works for me.

I have to admit I'm scratching my a head a bit on this one. He's not highly sought after, yet. He's doesn't seem to fit the mold of a Butch Jones QB. But, I'll defer to theat coaches to make those calls. He's a VOL now so I'm behind him 1 hunnert percent.

Dormady's plenty athletic enough to keep the ball 5-6 times a game and keep the defense honest, keep drives alive, convert some 3rd downs. Being accurate, efficient and a good decision-maker from the pocket trumps everything else IMHO.
