'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

I have to admit I'm scratching my a head a bit on this one. He's not highly sought after, yet. He's doesn't seem to fit the mold of a Butch Jones QB. But, I'll defer to theat coaches to make those calls. He's a VOL now so I'm behind him 1 hunnert percent.

He fits the exact mode of a Butch Jones QB. He is a 4* on 247 and a 4*on Scout. Had he not missed last season and put up the numbers he did his soph yr he would be one of the more highly recruited QB's. 247 has him one of the top pro style QB prospects and that's after missing all of last season. He is accurate and has a strong arm.

What is a Butch Jones QB? This is his first run at a big time program. He doesn't have to recruit the Munchie Legeaux type QB's anymore.

I saw someone on VQ says Dormady recently ran a 4.73 40. I looked back and noted that Josh Dobbs heading into his SR year of HS ran a 4.70. I think he will be alright tucking it and running 4-5 times a game.

I'm not really talking about the stars. He may be awesome but QBs like him are not a rarity. I figured he'd find a more athletic QB. Like I said, CBJ gets paid serious cash to make those decisions so I'll defer.

Guys, at CMU and Cincy Butch did not have North, Malone, Hurd, Pearson, etc. His offense is gona be a little different now. All those ignorant comparisons are 100% redundant to what's gona happen at UT. We are an NFL assembly line and not a gimmick offense to cover up talent difficiencies like those type programs are famous for.

I think he fits what we are truly looking for in a QB. I noticed in his film he likes the throws to the slot/middle of the defense. One would think then with all the talent we have not only on the outside, but the talent we will be showing from the slot & from our future tight ends we can really do some damage. Remember Butch likes them tight ends & I believe he would utilize them well.

Honestly I don't know a lot about this kid. But the excitement from the coaches and people relatively close to the program isn't lost on me. They're excited about Dormady for a reason, and I'm looking forward to seeing what that reason is.

Dormady might have been a bit unknown a relatively short time ago, but he also might have been a top-100 prospect had a torn labrum not robbed him of his junior season. That's not speculation; those are the words of two different football experts who have worked with multiple NFL prospects. So, yeah, Dormady has worlds of potential, and Rivals probably needs to reevaluate him sooner than later.

Still, those are semantics. Tennessee's coaches believe Dormady fits their program; it's why the cerebral Mike Bajakian logged time with Dormady in late spring.

I can see a little Andrew Luck and Blake Bortles in Dormady. All are certainly "prototypical" quarterbacks but have the ability to make a play with their legs when coverage breaks down.

I watched his film again and his footwork/accuracy really stand out to me. (Especially for a Sophomore) I will be anxious to see some highlights from his Senior year.

In the article on TOS, it sounds like several people say he could have been a top 100 prospect if he played last year. This is a big time get guys. Reminds me of Gaulden from 2014.
