'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

Good gracious man, the kid was just offered by Saban and Butch and the UT offensive staff with a push from Gruden.

What the **** is wrong with some of you? Sorry Patrick if you get the brunt, but to be blunt, none of you know wtf you are talking about with these kids.

Isn't it sad? This place has become embarrassing.

Why has nobody mentioned that most of the other schools that offered are also spread/uptempo teams? Even Kiffin is trying to bring it to Bama.

I'm with you. I don't know whether he's the next Peyton Manning or the next Joey Mathews but I don't see the harm in discussing how he may or may not fit into CBJ scheme. To me he's a little on the short side for a prototypical drop back passer and a little lacking athletic wise to be a read option type qb. But that's jmo. I certainly can understand people being pumped for this pick up as well.

He's 6 ft 4, how tall is the prototypical drop back passer? lol

Everyone will calm down in a few days and slowly get on the QD bandwagon. I think everyone just wanted it to be TG that committed. It would have been cool but this cat is can ball too. In Butch I trust. GBO!

So basically what youre saying is that because we picked up QD, CBJ doesnt know how to run his offense

Serious question though.....

Did CBJ and staff miss on Riley Ferguson? I think they clearly missed on something about him - whether it be his ability, mental capacity, work ethic, commitment.

But I keep forgetting that this is not a place to debate really much of anything.

In an article after his soph season QD admitted that running the ball was not his strong suit and that he needed to improve his zone-reads. He further said that he is more of a pocket-passer but that he was working on trying to get faster. Hopefully by the time he arrives at Tennessee his will have developed his speed and running ability as well as his zone-reads.

"They were really excited," Dormady said. "They hit me hard that they wanted me. They weren't into my business, but they got their point across and that hit with me."

"They have a ton of tradition," Dormady said. "They have all the great quarterbacks that have played there. It's just such a cool place. That wasn't the reason I picked Tennessee, but it's a bonus and it's something I want to build upon."

"I feel like I fit their system in the way they envision it," Dormady said. "I'm not going to be a guy that's going to be running all over the place. I'm going to make the right reads and put the ball in the right place to help my team win."

On talking with Gruden:

"His words to me were if I find a better place then take it," Dormady said. "I had a huge feeling about Tennessee. Getting back up there really made everything click. You can tell he is really passionate about Tennessee. He told us about his wife. He has a passion for the University."

Bump for the VQ commitment quotes. I saw where a couple people were asking about them. And I don't want to come off as really biased here, but you shouldn't judge this kid by his poor ranking on Rivals.

He had very good numbers as a sophomore in HS. Off the top of my head, I think he had 3,500+ yards, close to 40 TD passes, and completed over 60% of his passes. LV can pull the exact stats.

In his sophomore year of baseball, he suffered a torn labrum in his right shoulder (his throwing shoulder). This injury caused him to miss his whole junior of football. Ask anybody, your junior year is where you get your name out there and get all that exposure. It's extremely vital for camps and other showcases. Dormady missed all of that.

He threw in front of Bama's coaches. He received an offer. He's not a flashy/sexy pickup, but he's a really solid addition. He has natural size. He has an SEC arm. But even more than that, he's a damn VFL. Let's get behind this kid and Jauan because they want to be on Rocky Top, and at the end of the day that's what matters.

If he got Gruden and Butch's approval, he sure as hell has mine.

Sorry for the long post.... Just trying to clarify a few things.

After reading the last page or two of this thread, I really need to get ahold of Butch tomorrow and let him know that he's doing it all wrong.

While you're at it, you might suggest to Butch that he replace Bajakian with Patrick as OC since he apparently knows more about their offense and the type of players needed to run it successfully than either of them. I don't mind discussion, but some on here need to step back and take several deep breaths. The lack of oxygen to their brains is causing a severe case of brain cramps.

Are you going to put him on IGNORE too?

I have yet to put anyone on ignore. I like to test my patience. But I certainly won't be responding to him (as long as I recognize it is him.)

But if I were to ignore anyone, he would be the first.

Last page, there is an article about the type of QB CBJ wants for his system. Basically, strong, accurate arm that is not a burner but can keep a defense honest.

The correct answer is "most" and a "handful"

I think more than a hand full wanted it to be TG. His thread went 55% meltdown for a minute. Then the xanax kicked in and people in there are saying he's still coming here. Then I couldn't resist pranking a few in here, got flamed for it (deservedly). But in all seriousness I think this kid will do well here.

and offensive tendencies mean absolutely nothing and all those defensive coordinators are fools for looking at game film for hours to determine what a certain offensive coordinator does in certain down and distance situations and what formations they run and what scheme they employ. and % of run to pass and how often the qb keeps on a zone read. yes that means nothing at all - nothing

I think the difference in opinions lies in how often the QB needs to carry the ball for the offense to work. You obviously feel they need to contribute about 25% of the teams rushing yards. Others who have been posting on this site (RECRUITING FORUM) for an extended period of time have been saying let the RB's and receivers make the MAJORITY of the plays, and let the QB run 5-6 times a game to keep the defense honest. To my knowledge, nobody on this thread has said the QB should not be able to run SOME, but why recruit all the talent at the other positions if you are not going to use them?

CBJ didn't evaluate and recruit ferguson. Chaney did that. CBJ held onto him and went to get Dobbs. So obviously CBJ wasn't comfortable just rolling with himat the time so maybe he saw some things
