'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

Did you know that it is entirely possible to have more than 1 really good QB on your team? So you know all 3 QBs under the Volnation microscope could very well be great QBs in future. It is annoying that people can't compare without bashing and pretending the kids suck.

One is a 5 star Athlete, the other a top 100 athlete and other a top 5 pro style QB. All 3 are incredibly talented to the point that we only dreamed of

Looks like a born leader to me....I think he will be a great QB.:hi:

Q: The year before Butch Jones came to Tennessee, he used a dual-threat and a pro-style quarterback at Cincinnati. He's shown that he can adapt to different styles, so was that appealing?

A: "I feel like I can fit in quite a few different systems, so I knew I would be fine in their system. It's a pro-style passing game, but you can put a dual-threat quarterback in there. I'm labeled as a pro-style quarterback and a pocket passer, but that doesn't mean that's all I can do."

I have a feeling that there may be some fans who are a bit nervous about a QB who has yet to prove capable of running effectively. It could be due to all the frustration with Worley last year. There were some who were literally begging Worley to keep the ball a couple of times a game. I think the fear stems from the idea that the offense will suffer the same way it did when Worley wouldn't keep it and everyone knew it. When he did keep it he did OK (5-10yds), but it wasn't what a lot of people wanted to see from a QB in the read option.

It may be a bit irrational to think that a QB in a 1st year offense should've been much more effective. After all, we did see a bit of improvement in Worley during the UGA and USCg games. I feel like Worley is going to impress quite a few people this coming season, Dobbs too.

I was also disappointed in Worley last year. Yes it was his first time in that offense, but you have to have a feel for what is in front of you and some of those running lanes could have gone for 10-15 yards even with an unathletic QB. You just need a QB with the confidence and awareness of when to keep it. Just because he was a "pro-style" QB and was afraid to run the ball, doesn't mean every "pro-style" QB will be that way, in fact I would think most wont be. The two at Cincy certainly weren't afraid to run it. Either way I hope you're right about Worley and he surprises us in a big way this year. WR's and TE's will be much better but pass protection and the OL in general is a huge worry for me.

But, boy, if we have marginal success on the OL this year, Worleybird could have a big season. Huge season.

I'm hoping your right. Obviously I've never been high on him. I just think he lacks composure and confidence and has poor timing overall in the passing game. And I wasn't nearly as impressed with him in some games (USCe especially) as others apparently were. He had a horrible 2nd half in that game, if not for the truly miraculous catch by North that game is over. Either way I'll be rooting for him this season.

Maybe I'm just setting myself up for heartbreak, but he seemed to have things (offense-wise) nailed down a lot better this spring. Maybe Dobbs wins the QB competition, but either way, I think having another year in the system will help them put things together better this fall. Both of them seemed to hit receivers in stride pretty well in the O&W game highlights. Obviously, I can't comment on the rest of the game...

That is encouraging to hear about his spring. I was just going by solely what I saw last season of him. No doubt another year in the system will help. If they had last year's Oline I'd be pretty excited about the offense this season. I just have this terrible feeling that the Oline is going to be a complete mess for at least this coming season (and don't get me started on what is returning on the DL). I do think Worley will win the job. Dobbs based on last year has a long way to go as well IMO.

Did you see the instagram of Dobbs hitting the goal post from 50 yards on the first try? Good stuff.

It is not going to happen unless Worley is injured. There was a huge divide between Worley and the other QBs left on the roster.

It's a new year. Dobbs has matured mentally and physically. He was thrust into a tough position last year. Mentally, I'm sure he was prepared to redshirt.

He looked confident in the spring game. He also worked hard in the weight room and attended a prestigious QB camp this spring. He looks and acts the part. It would not shock me to see him overtake Worley.

Not really. If it was he would be named starter already. About the only thing he did better than Dobbs was take care of the ball. With a year in college Dobbs will probably not turn it over as much.

He said he does not know how to run, he never works on his footwork, but he can throw half way decent.

He went on to say that CBJ told him that he will never be allowed to run, in fact, he doesn't even have to run in practice. CBJ apparently told him that this is a classic pro-style offense, and as such, it will be drop back and pass only.
Grin-Works for me
