'15 VA ATH Jaason Lewis

I agree but like I said, that's the exception not the norm. The majority of your running backs are in the 5'8 to 5'11 range. I was responding to the other guy who was acting like a 6'4 running back is what everyone covets, which obviously isn't true.
Azzani is recruiting him, so I have to wonder if they aren't looking at him as a WR first (since we seem to be striking out on Jefferson), and possibly a RB, if Hurd get's injured...which he has at various points in the season.

I think he's a clone of Derrick Henry. Can play at multiple positions. And since he is already 250lbs, he's the kind of battering ram we need in short yardage situations. I'd use him more often in that role than Hurd. Save some wear and tear on Hurd, in the process.

Ok? Considering that there's nearly 10,000 people playing football every year at the FBS level and only 1,700 or so in the NFL each year, I'd wager that that's correct.

He does have speed but in the SEC everyone does. Would not trust him to get 1 yard when we need it.

There are hundreds of guy like Love that do absolutely nothing in college or the pros. I would take him as a last resort.
I wouldn't mind us taking Lewis rather than Newsome, as a WR, and still taking Love (if we can), at RB. Love can fill Newsome's role as a multi-purpose TB/Slot receiver.

Both guys are interchangeable, position-wise. But taking both Love and Newsome would be getting 2 of the same thing, IMHO.

I think the same.

+1. The Titans were sitting there in the 2nd Rd of the NFL draft, last May, and had their pick of RB's in the class. Many pundits had them going with a higher-rated power backs like Carlos Hyde or Jeremy Hill. Instead, they went with the smallish RB...Bishop Sankey.

The Titans lost games this season with that decision. Many times they could have used Carlos Hyde to pound the rock and get the tough yards to sustain the drive. They ended up having to punt, because they had the wrong kind of RB.

So, agreed. I'd rather have more power backs than loading up with smaller ones.

The more I see of this kid, the more I'm liking him. Just under 300yds in the State Championship game. That's big.

Watch the stiff-arms (starting about the 55sec mark). Reminds me of how tough Gurley was to bring down, this year, when we played UGA.

Being 6'4" at RB is usually considered a negative fyi. For every Jalen Hurd or Derrick Henry that comes along, there's a hundred of these guys that end up at LB, TE or DE.

Yeah just ask guys like Jerome Bettis or mike alstot it sucked to be a big RB.

Jerome Bettis was 5'11". Mike Alstott was a fullback...

Also 255 pounds... Still a big back. Also mike alstott took a lot more carries than a normal fullback did. Your info is correct, but Bettis was still a BIG back hence the nickname the bus. Most times as well alstott would carry the ball a lot in a game, and also caught a lot of balls.

I get what youre saying. I'm not talking about weight, I'm talking about height.

Yes, Hurd is a stud RB at 6'3" and there's been others at 6'2" or above (Peterson, Jim Brown, Eric Dickerson, Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Henry, Eddie George) but my point was that they are not very common. Out of the top 10 leaders in rushing yards this year, only one is above 6 feet tall.

Realize he is the exception, but Brandon Jacobs was 6'5" and about 265. You are correct, the norm is shorter not taller.

Thank you. That's all I'm trying to say. Guys with Jalen Hurd's size, speed, balance and skillset do not come around every year.

Lewis reminds me of Dustin Moore that came to UT from Greeneville. Dustin had 2,500 yards rushing his Sr. year in high school, came to UT and as a freshman played DE, as a sophomore he switched to TE. He was kicked off the team because of the peace pipe. He had all American skills, he just wasn't mature enough. Dustin may have been a little quicker than Lewis.

Anybody who says he is to tall is the same dumb people who said the same thing about jalen Hurd!! And they were wrong about that!!!!! This guy is a beast we need him!!!! Hurd and kamara the first 3 quarters and Lewis to lean on them in the 4th quarter that's how you win games!!! Bama does it all the time it's time for us to return the favor!!!! GO VOLS

Lewis has everything that Hurd has from an athletic standpoint except his fluidity, he doesn't have the ability to move in space like Jalen or slide through a small window like he can.

He doesn't have nearly the same speed or burst either. But I agree, he looks stiff.
